The main characters in OpenLieroX are worms and, yes, they're the same ones found in Worms and the other handful of games in this genre. The main difference is that, unlike Worms, OpenLieroX isn't turn-based. The worms' movements happen in real time. The worms are tiny, as you'll see, but not their capacity for destruction, which is strengthened by all sorts of weapons. You can carry up to five different weapons at the same time. You can play online games over a local network or the Internet or, if you don't have an Internet connection, against the computer. Just indicate how many worms the computer will control and let the battle begin.
