Creating an animated adventure from scratch can be a real odyssey, but if you follow the examples in Wintermute Engine Development Kit, it'll be easier than you imagined. But it's helpful to know that the language it uses has a syntax similar to C. The script editor lets you program the behavior of every element: menus, objects, characters, settings, and so on.
