StarForge is an intriguing game that combines elements from various genres to create an experience that is different from most anything else we've played up until now. It's a free game that allows you to modify the scenery to your liking, in pure Minecraft style, creating building from scratch or digging tunnels beneath a mountain... but that also pits you against your friends or other enemies as though you were playing a multiplayer game of Halo. At the moment the game is still in early development stages, so it's a little unstable, though it already includes really interesting features and the promise of more to come, like riding vehicles, battling against tons of players, and the ability to really work wonders with the scenery. At the visual level, StarForge stands out, and although it is being developed by a team of just two people, it looks and feels just like any other modern release. StarForge is a fun, unique game. It's still too early to say if it will be one of the great independent games of the last few years, but it certainly has the potential to be.

Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Earth is a fangame that brings back characters from the 2D installments of the popular saga from Midway. Best of all, it makes sure to add some additional original content that's never been seen before in the classic titles. The game, based on the fangame Mortal Kombat Project, uses the well-known MUGEN engine to create an ultimate fighting game. This version of the game for Windows (the original is for iOS) includes only three different racetracks and only one vehicle (the protagonist's blue truck), but in spite of the scarcity of options it offers a good dose of fun thanks to its very playable concept, very similar to the mythic Carmageddon. The objective of every race is to arrive at the finish line in the least time possible, and on the way running over as many zombies as you can find in your path, dispatching them spectacularly as they fly off the road, blood-spattered. The game's physics engine helps greatly with this, as it does with our control of the vehicle. Vroom! is a really fun racing game that, although short and a bit lacking in gameplay modes, offers graphics and a mechanism that almost reach a professional level.

The gameplay corresponds to the classic of the saga, with a first person perspective from which you can fight against your enemies and talk with the more than 700,000 characters that inhabit the game's universe. One of the most outstanding things about Daggerfall is that, though it is a RPG, you can buy up tons of properties and have both houses and boats (the later are especially useful if you need to travel from one place to another). The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall is a mammoth game, which no fan of the role-playing games for PCs should miss. Particularly bearing in mind the fact that it's free.

DuckStation is a PlayStation/PSX/PS1 emulator for Windows 10 (although it can also run on Windows 8), which aims to offer an experience that's as close as possible to the original titles. This means you'll be able to enjoy some of the most important classics from the 32-bit era, on your desktop or laptop. The first thing you'll need to do before you can properly enjoy the emulator, is extract or download the ROM of the PlayStation BIOS. This isn't a difficult process; in fact, you'll be able to find plenty of tutorials on how to do it, but it is absolutely necessary in order to be able to play any of the PSOne titles. Once you've loaded the BIOS, the fun can begin. Before loading any game it's a good idea to take a look at the configuration options DuckStation has to offer. You'll find more than twenty different settings to adjust, enable or disable to make your games look better or worse. By default, all games will look exactly the same as on the Sony console. However, all it takes is a few little tweaks to improve the resolution or activate post-processing effects. Changing the resolution can be especially useful on large monitors. It's also important to take a look at the control options. By default, the controls are the basic "WASD" and the numeric keypad, but of course, you can change it to suit your personal preferences. You'll be able to continue using the keyboard, but with other keys; or even use your PlayStation or Xbox controller. Ultimately, the most important thing is that you're comfortable while playing. DuckStation is an excellent PlayStation emulator for Windows, that makes it possible to play some of the best video games in history. Although at first glance, the sheer number of options available may seem overwhelming, the truth is that it's not really necessary to touch practically any of the options to be able to start playing and enjoying some of the great gems from the late 90s and early 2000s.

Fuaim is a very particular interactive experience where players control a drop of ... paint? .... through a setting filled with stains and words written all over the place. The game's main goal is completely unknown and you'll have to wander around trying to understand the meaning of it all. The game's controls are fairly simple at first: move with the arrow keys and jump with the space bar. However, you'll find later on that moving is not as easy as you thought, mainly due to the gravitational fields and their effect on the different paint stains in the setting. Fuaim doesn't have levels or phases or anything like that. Instead, it has a single setting where you can move in any way you want, trying to read all the written messages while moving as well as you can from one platform to the other.

In this game, you play as a Marine on a base on the moon. A portal to the underworld seems to have opened, and your task is none other than to stay alive by killing demons, possessed soldiers, and supernatural creatures on a journey through the underworld itself. The shareware version of the game that was distributed at the time allows you to play each of the nine levels that make up the game's first episode. Although it's currently impossible to play this game directly on modern computers, there are interpreters that allow you to do so on even the most modern PCs, as well as the addition of new features, such as free aim controlled by the mouse and overall improvements to the graphics.
