Eversion is a platform game with a retro look that has an unexpected twist. Its gameplay allows players to switch dimensions within any level. That means that you don't have to rely on jumping from platform to platform to get through the level, you can actually overcome obstacles by traversing them from a different world altogether. Despite its juvenile appearance, the game tells a complex enough story to draw in older players. You'll be able to see one of three different endings depending on your actions throughout the game. The game hides many more surprises than you might expect, and we're not going to give anything away here. Try it and see for yourself, whether or not you usually pick up platform games. Eversion is a notable game that shouldn't put off potential players with its innocent graphics. There's much more than a pretty platformer behind Eversion... but it's up to you, the player, to find out more.

Ghosts'n Demons is a 2D action platformer where you play the mythic knight Sir Arthur, who heads off on an adventure to rescue Princess Prin Prin (as usual), who has been kidnapped by a fearsome demon. The gameplay is the one everybody knows, identical to that of Ghost'n Goblins. You have to get to the end of each level and defeat the boss in order to keep moving forward in the story, which isn't at all easy. Sir Arthur's armor only resists one blow, and once it's broken, he can only take one more hit. Although both the enemies and the settings are familiar, they're not identical to those in the original game. Many elements have changed, and the result is an even harder game that requires a lot of skill and patience. In fact, the difficulty level is as old-school as the graphics. Ghosts'n Demons is an excellent homage to one of the most legendary games of the 80s. This new version preserves the charm of the original, and at the same time offers a new experience that veteran players will definitely love.

A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country is a 2D platform game which, as its name suggests, pays tribute to the legendary Donkey Kong Country, recreating the famous Super Nintendo game with Unreal Engine 3. The result, of course, is spectacular. Gameplay is almost identical to the original: players start each level with Donkey Kong and can jump and roll on the ground to kill their enemies. You can also find Diddy Kong along the way and get him to help you on your adventure, which basically gives you an extra life. The levels in A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country aren't exactly like the original game, but they're very similar. The goal remains the same, however: get to the end safely and try to get all the bananas on the way. You'll also find red balloons, barrels, and tires. The most striking part of A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country is its graphics powered by Unreal Engine 3. The game looks stunning, and although at times the levels are a little dark, there is a world of difference between these graphics and those of the original 2D version. A Tribute To Donkey Kong Country is a great platform game, and while it's still in an early stage of development, it's a fun experience nonetheless.

Use the keyboard to control little Max, the hero, while with the mouse you control the magic marker, thanks to which you can draw anything you want to help Max in his adventure. A good example of how you can use the marker is to create a staircase which Max can climb up to a higher zone. But there are tons of other possibilities: like drawing grills over jets of water that will then lift you to a platform, or creating balls to knock over objects. The game has fifteen levels set in three different worlds. Each of those is full of puzzles, platforms, and enemies that you'll have to defeat with your own ingenuity - and a magic marker.

Sonic Before the Sequel is a 2D platform game, starring Sonic, that continues with an alternative time line to that established in the original SEGA game right up to the present day. The game contains all the traditional elements of the franchise, spiced up with occasional homegrown touches. The most important thing in Sonic Sequel Before the Sequel remains the speed you can complete each level in, which, as always, are filled with spikes, falls, breaks, rings and baddies. But of course, you also have extras like a story told through cut scenes. The levels in Sonic Before the Sequel take you away from the traditional Green Hill and other well known levels. Instead you get to visit new locations, and contrary to what you may think, these prove to be a real breath of fresh air for fans of the series. Sonic Before the Sequel is a very good platform game that will not only appeal to SEGA and Sonic fans, but also to anyone who enjoys the genre, which has never been particularly popular on the PC.

I Wanna be the Guy, whose complete name is 'I Wanna Be The Guy: The Movie: The Game' is a tremendously complicated two-dimensional platform game where the players will have to control 'The Kid' throughout his epic journey to become 'The Guy'. The game borrowed a lot of elements from legendary games of the nineties so that during your many adventures you will encounter references to games like Ghosts and Goblins, Street Fighter II, The Legend of Zelda, Castlevania or Metroid. The reason why 'I Wanna be the Guy' is more well-known, however, is not for its multiple references to other games, but its terrible difficulty. Throughout the many scenarios that you have to overcome you will find traps placed with the objective to kill you over and over again. For if the design of the levels is not complicated enough, on top of that your main character is quite weak. The slightest touch of any element of the scenario will end his life, making you go back to the last checkpoint where the game was saved. I Wanna be the Guy is a platform game both fun and legendary. It's one of those challenges you like to boast about once you've overcome it. Although of course, overcoming this challenge will cost you blood, sweat and tears.

UniMaker is an excellent program for creating levels with a similar structure and style to those in classic 2D video games for 8-bit and 16-bit consoles, such as the Mario Bros saga. This concept is clearly inspired by a well-known program called Mario Maker, only this time, it's taken shape as a PC-exclusive fangame. This program is good for two things: creating levels and testing the worlds you've created, as well as those created by other players and shared online. Both features are available on UniMaker's interface, but to load levels, you'll need to find the file by browsing. That's because they're external elements that haven't been built into the game itself. The editor contains more than 20 different templates based on the worlds you know and love, including meadows, caves, lava, and underwater worlds, as well as many others. There's also a wide range of enemies and objects that you can drag and drop to add to your scenarios. As if that weren't enough, you can also edit the default sprites and tiles to add your own spin, an option that exponentially increases the possibilities for making a truly unique scenario. You can even edit the level's configuration files by using a simple scripting language to add special rules. UniMaker is a fantastic program where you can let your imagination run wild as you invent your own worlds to add to the Mario universe. More importantly, you can share your work and explore others' as it's shared.

Eggman Hates Furries is a 2-dimensional platform game lead by Sonic, where players can control the famous SEGA character in a game that is a far departure from the blue hedgehog's regular adventures. The reason that Eggman Hates Furries is so different from most of Sonic's traditional adventures is because this time the game is mainly oriented towards the battles against bosses. In fact, the first song that you hear upon starting the game is Shadow of the Colossus... The way these battles against gigantic enemies is developed is spectacular. In some, you'll have to go running full-speed through the water, avoiding obstacles, while in others you'll have to run through an underground tunnel, and in still others you'll be in free fall, trying to avoid laser beams. If this wasn't enough, Eggman Hates Furries also has a great story, in which Sonic and Tails will have to face the most evil Eggman yet. Eggman Hates Furries is an excellent platform game that takes advantage of the name and image of Sonic to offer a title worthy of the franchise.

Sonic 2 HD is a high-definition remastering of the original Megadrive Sonic 2 carried out by a group of the saga's fans that have nothing to do with SEGA. Although considering the result, they might want to hire them. The game is basically what those who have spent a few years in the video game wold would know: a frenzied two-dimensional platform game where you have to go through a series of levels at full speed while collecting all of the rings that you can. Of course, you also have to watch out for monsters, but the majority of them aren't a big problem if you go fast enough. This version of the game, which is still in the "alpha" phase, includes the first world of the game, so you can only go up against the first big boss and the entire adventure will only take a few minutes. The short duration, fortunately, is made up for with spectacular graphics that will leave you in wide-eyed wonder. SEGA's blue hedgehog has never looked as good as he does in Sonic 2 HD, where his movements as well as his modelling are truly exquisite. The rest of the game: enemies, rings, scenarios... also, they are meticulously made with fantastic detail. Sonic 2 HD is a very fun game with outstanding graphics. And the best part of all is that it barely takes up any disk space, doesn't need to be installed and is perfectly optimized.

MegaMan Unlimited is a 2D platformer starring the popular Capcom icon, but that is not affiliated in any way with the Japanese company. Instead, the game has been developed solely by fans of the original titles. Visually and audibly, MegaMan Unlimited draws from the classics that appeared on the 8 Bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). From another point of view, however, the main source of inspiration for Unlimited comes from MegaMan 9 and 10. MegaMan Unlimited's story puts the player in the most unlikely of scenarios, in which Dr. Willy promises to help Mega Man when eight unknown robots begin to wreak havoc throughout the world, and to stop them he will need all the help he can get. Players will have to conquer eight different worlds and their bosses... plus an additional hidden world (also with its own 'boss'). MegaMan Unlimited is a worthy entry into the MegaMan franchise, which although unofficial and developed by amateurs, has enough quality to convince even the most sceptical of gamer.

Mari0 is a platform game that combines the scenarios, characters and general playability of the classic Super Mario Bros with the revolutionary mechanics of the not-so-classic Portal. Thus, the player controls Mario through all of the levels of the legendary Super Mario Bros with the small addition that throughout the entire course of the game they can employ the famous "portal gun" to create portals in any part of the scenario. With these portals, the player is able to do things from throwing enemies out of the level to skipping ahead in the game, being that the physics are perfectly recreated. Before starting the game, of course, you can configure many different options. First, in an awesome wink to Team Fortress 2, you can put any of more than thirty available hats on Mario. Next, you can choose the colors of both Mario's clothing and the portals that he generates. This character personalization will come especially in handy when it comes to playing multiplayer with friends, as the game allows up to four Marios to launch portals in the same game at the same time. As if the large quantity of levels and options that the multiplayer game offers weren't enough, Mari0 includes a level editor that you can use to create your own levels, and what's even better is the ease of playing with those that have been created by others. MUDs (Multi User Dungeons) are text-based games, generally with a fantasy theme and a gameplay very similar to RPGs. They became popular in the 80s as more people began using personal computers at home. While MMORPGs have evolved to include spectacular graphics and other features, MUD games have remained loyal to their essence and still allow people to play on remote servers and interact with multiple users. There are several MUDs in English that require only a terminal in text mode with Telnet support so you can play from anywhere – although there are also clients (like MUSHclient) that can improve your experience and make game communication easier. Written in C++ to guarantee great performance and compact size, MUSHclient offers an alias to manage frequent commands, keypad navigation, autocomplete with TAB, 'auto say' to speed up conversations, etc. For more advanced users, it also has support for proxy, scripting, and automatic management of different worlds and servers. Some popular MUDs in English include: Aardwolf Discworld You can try them by typing c:/telnet server:port into your terminal or clicking New World on your MUSHclient and entering the details shown on the official websites.
