To top it off, along the way you'll have to collect the gold coins scattered all over the place. The levels are designed to be really hard, and sometimes beating them is so difficult that N+ can seem like more of a puzzle game than a platformer. Still, the only thing you need to beat this game is skill – which you'll need for every single jump you take. The elements that make N+ so special are its physics and devilish difficulty, occasionally reminiscent of the popular game Super Meat Boy, with dishearteningly difficult chain jumps and, here and there, practically impossible sections of platforms. Included with the game download is also a level editor to create and share your own torture chambers with other players. The editor is really easy to use, so you'll just need a quick tutorial for it. N+ is a really fun platform game. It has paid versions for other consoles, but it's completely free on PC.

If that weren't enough, the game's arcade mode comes with a storyline that helps you to discover just why it is that all of your favorite heroes are fighting each other, presented in comic form. In addition to arcade mode, you'll find various other playing modes included in the game, like survival mode or classic, where you can play alone or cooperatively. Avengers Vs X-Men is by far one of the best free MUGEN fighting games that we've come across. Brutal Doom is a mod for the original Doom that, after three years of intense development, now offers a much bloodier and more refined experience (especially with regard to the shooting mechanism) compared to the normal game. You'll notice the increased goriness of Doom not just in the increased blood splatters on the walls and the bodies of enemies, but also in the new options that allow you to shoot people in the head or tear your enemies apart with bullets. Also, almost all of your opponents will now have completely new death animations. Doom's normal shooting system, which didn't use the mouse by default, has been updated so that it does. Although the best part is that the weapons have been completely remodeled so that no one weapon is significantly better than the others. For example, the sawed-off shotgun is your best choice at short range, while the machine gun will prove to be your best friend against big groups of enemies. Brutal Doom is one of the best Doom mods out there because it allows you to enjoy all the levels of the original titles, with a bloodier and more entertaining facelift that also looks much better.

Viscera Cleanup is a very peculiar videogame indeed. In it, the player assumes the role of a spaceship janitor who also happens to be the only survivor of an alien massacre that happened on the ship. As such, he has to clean up the disaster. The game plays out in first person, as if it were a shooter game. The difference is that instead of weapons like pistols, shotguns, or machine guns, you have a mop, latex gloves, and a bucket. Your only enemy: Mess. Because of the massacre (which you don't see), almost the entire ship is full of blood stains, guts, and human remains. To clean up the puddles of blood you'll need the bucket and mop; to get rid of the intestines and amputated appendages you'll need a trash can. Viscera Cleanup is the closest thing to a space janitor simulator that you'll ever see in your life. Even though in itself the task of cleaning floors may not seem particularly fun, before long you'll discover that exploring the ship is in fact quite entertaining.

DragonBall Vs Street Fighter III is a very peculiar fighting game in which, as its name clearly states, the characters from Dragon Ball and Street Fighter combat each other. The first thing that stands out from DragonBall Vs Street Fighter III is the large number of game modes available for play. There are up to eight different play modes, among which we can find: 'survival', 'arcade', 'team arcade', and 'versus'. So we can basically choose to play in either one on one combats, or two on two combats; we can play solitaire, or with a friend. The most amazing part of the game, however, is the cast of characters it boasts, among which we can find Goku, Vegeta, and company; as well as lesser known characters such as Bardock, Ubu, Tapion, or Broly. On the Street Fighter side we have all the usual cast, with a couple of interesting newbies such as Seth (the boss of Street Fighter IV). DragonBall Vs Street Fighter III is a fun fighting game, in which the main attraction is the bringing together of characters from two very famous franchises. Yet, the mix just doesn’t quite fully work out. The game is ok, but the moves from one franchise's characters are just way too different from the moves from the other franchise's characters.

Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins is a beat 'em up in the style of Streets of Rage, but instead of taking control of a couple of meatheads to fight against an array of neighbourhood thugs, here you play with Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Noob Saibot. Similar to all games of the genre, regardless of which character you choose, you move through series of two dimensional scenes fighting off countless enemies who all take the form of characters from the Mortal Kombat franchise. To do so, you have at your disposal a wide array of lethal moves. No Mortal Kombat game would be the same without a good helping of blood and guts, so whenever you land a blow on one of your enemies you see a huge stream of blood flying across the screen. If you manage to pull off one of the special moves, the effects will be even more exaggerated and gruesome. The best thing about Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins, however, is the ability to play in coop mode with friends. You just need a couple of controllers and a shared desire to dish out some serious punishment left, right and centre. Mortal Kombat Outworld Assassins is a 2D action title which, by staying true to the classics of the genre, and offering an adventure packed full of action, enemies and blood, proves to be a lot of fun and will be of particular appeal to existing fans of the franchise.

The game, developed with the MUGEN engine, is a complete fangame that's covered even the most minimal details. As you'd expect, the arcade mode has you running through maze-like settings, except you have to face a sequence of difficult monsters using your own agility and the special moves for each character. As this is at heart a fighting game, it lets you play all 28 available characters, among them several illustrious members of the Belmont family, in the inevitable versus and training modes as well as a cooperative mode where you face the end-of-level villains in pairs. Castlevania Fighter is a game made by fans and for fans. Guaranteed to elicit a smile or two from all the vampire hunters out there who've spent decades enjoying those top titles from Konami.

The game, despite being in Japanese, won't be a problem, as all the characters appear in both kanji (that you won't see if you don't have the Japanese language pack installed) as well as in Latin characters. The Typing of the Dead 2 is a very fun game, thanks to which you can learn how to type. Learn how to kill zombies!

Its cultural impact was such that it is largely considered one of the most influential games of the 90s, both for its controversial approach and for how fun and innovative it was for the time. In this game, you play as a Marine on a base on the moon. A portal to the underworld seems to have opened, and your task is none other than to stay alive by killing demons, possessed soldiers, and supernatural creatures on a journey through the underworld itself. The shareware version of the game that was distributed at the time allows you to play each of the nine levels that make up the game's first episode. Although it's currently impossible to play this game directly on modern computers, there are interpreters that allow you to do so on even the most modern PCs, as well as the addition of new features, such as free aim controlled by the mouse and overall improvements to the graphics.

A noteworthy title that might not reach the same heights as PlayersUnknown'S Battlegrounds but does indeed deliver a very satisfying gaming experience.
