Maniac Mansion was one of the most important video games in the graphic adventure genre, and precursor to a golden age for the LucasArts studio. The original version used an old interface, based on selecting written commands, but this remake uses the SCUMM system, and improves the graphics using a palette of 256 colors instead of the original 16. In the game you have to rescue Sandy from the clutches of the evil Doctor Edison and his family, entering its gigantic mansion with a group of friends, led by Dave, Sandy's boyfriend. Throughout your adventure you can discover the secrets that the mansion hides. Among other characters, you can find the famous color tentacles. Without a doubt, Maniac Mansion Remake is an essential title if you want to go back to old times, both if you didn't have the chance to play the original, and if you want to replay it with a new look.

Zero-K is an open source, free real time strategy game originally based on Total Annihilation (and its spiritual successor Supreme Commander) that branched out little by little until it became the real time strategy standard that it is today. Most confrontations in Zero-K will last for about a half-hour, with your objective being to finish off the rest of the bands out there (both human and artificial intelligence) so that you have total control of the map. You'll start each game with just one unit: the commander. From there, you'll need to collect resources (metal and energy) so that you can construct a series of factories to build all kinds of new units. There are more than fifty types in all, with land robots, ships, airplanes, and more. Zero-K includes various playing modes. There's the typical melee mode where you'll face off against other users over the Internet, as well as 'Chikens' mode, and the persistent world of 'Planet Wars'. Both are great and get you a lot of extra mileage out of the game. Zero-K is one of the best games out there in terms of real time strategy. Not only is the game totally free, but there are almost always players connected, so you won't have any trouble finding games to play.

Misao is a terror game developed entirely by Sen (creator of 'Mad Father', also available on Uptodown), where the player assumes the role of a young schoolgirl who watches as a good day at her institution turns into an authentic nightmare. The gameplay is very similar to that of the majority of other games developed using RPG Maker and similar programs. So, from an aerial perspective you will control Aki, the protagonist, while you explore different rooms, speak with people, and above all, try to survive. The story behind Misao is its strongest point. It's a terrifying story with no limits, where you'll find extreme violence, murder, insults, and many other elements not appropriate for players under 18 years of age. Additionally, those who have played 'Mad Father' in the past will run into some references to that game. Misao is a shocking game, one of those that leaves you with a bad feeling after playing, but its quality is undeniable. It's not very impressive graphically, nor is the story very long, but it's well worth your time to take a look at this excellent horror game.

Futuridium is a spaceship simulation game where you can guide a pure X-Wing-style spaceship from Star Wars. The only thing that matters in this game are your reflexes, which you'll have to use to destroy certain objects and score the maximum amount of points. You can control the spaceship with the keyboard, with the remote of a video game console, or even with a joystick (the second two options are recommended). The controls are pretty simple: move the spaceship in any direction, make a 360 degree turn to straighten yourself on the path, and shoot. The objective for each level is the same: try to destroy all of the blue blocks in as little time possible, without crashing. It won't be easy. The levels' structure will make surviving a real challenge. What stands out most about Futuridium is its graphics, which include several different options to choose from, and which look spectacular on your screen. That is, if your computer is powerful enough. Futuridium is a spaceship game that is spectacular in every way. You'll really enjoy this simple and addictive game as it tests your reflexes and overwhelms your senses with a spectacular soundtrack and astounding graphics.

Operation Annunaki is a third-person action game with clear influences from the Metal Gear Solid saga. It puts you in the shoes of a secret agent who must rescue a scientist kidnapped in an Eastern European country. The control system uses the keyboard and mouse, and you can do actions like breaking the enemies' necks from behind, throwing canned food to distract enemies and catch them off-guard, crouching, and shooting with one of the many weapons you'll find throughout the game. The game's controls are a bit rough since you control your character's moves with the mouse. But, even so, it won't be very complicated to figure out the controls and start blowing your enemies' heads off, which is enjoyable in any video game. The game's graphics aren't up to par with you'd expect from today's titles, although the fact that the game runs perfectly on any relatively modern computer compensates for this. Operation Annunaki is an entertaining action game that has some very unique elements. Although it's not the best of its genre, it'll definitely get more than a few gamers hooked.

The Lore of Lorewyn is a proper Super Nintendo–style JRPG that, behind its traditional appearance and gameplay, hides a story full of surprising plot twists where nothing is what it seems. You play Tyrin, who finds himself in a medieval fantasy world and doesn't remember who is he, what he's doing there, and why he's in the trouble that's following him. Luckily he has Mia, an apprentice wizard devoted to helping him. The game's development, which lasts some 20 hours, is very traditional. In other words, you advance linearly through the story while fighting in a series of random battles against tons of enemies. If you win these fights, as you usually do, you'll earn experience to level Tyrin up. The higher your characters' levels, the more abilities they can use in combat. And these abilities will be absolutely necessary for beating the game's toughest enemies. The Lore of Lorewyn is quite a long, fun, and different traditional RPG. Although its story looks standard at first, it conceals much more than it seems.

DiabloRL is a roguelike inspired by Diablo. As with other games in this genre, the gaming experience is difficult but rewarding, mixing in some of the most characteristic elements from the game Diablo. That is to say, DiabloRL, like the original Diablo, begins in the town of Tristram. The main character has come to town to talk to Deckard Cain, who will tell you everything that has happened in the nearby church. You'll also discover the poor soldier was mortally wounded by The Butcher. Once you're inside the church, the concept of the game will feel familiar. You'll find all kinds of enemies (like skeletons and zombies) in each level, and you can earn money by killing them. You can also find new equipment, beat levels, improve attributes, and so on. The main difference, of course, is that in DiabloRL, there is no graphical interface. All the game's elements are represented by text symbols, and you'll have to identify each item in this way. The interface is just as hard to master, so you'll have to study the commands before you'll be able to get everything under control. DiabloRL is a very difficult roguelike, but veterans of the genre will have a great time rising up to the challenge.

The Last Phoenix is an action game that employs similar gameplay to those classic arcade flight-simulators. But this time, you're wearing the feathers of the last Phoenix in its fight against other mythological birds. You'll face off against these creatures with the help of your talons and special attacks. Now, although you'll have to confront many enemies, your main object in the game is to restore life and color to the world. So you'll need to complete a series of missions within each level, none of which are very easy thanks to the constant attacks of your foes. The game's levels are quite big and give you a lot of freedom to explore, soaring around the sky, fighting enemies, and discovering secrets. And this is the best part of The Last Phoenix: the freedom of movement that your Phoenix enjoys. You can launch charge attacks that turn your protagonist into a streak of mortal fire, or attack with your talons to destabilize anyone else in the air. There are even special attacks that unleash firestorms capable of burning the scene to a crisp. Graphically, The Last Phoenix is truly impressive. Correct use of the Unreal Engine has made the game attractive, with spectacular animations for the birds, all of which combines to leave you awe-struck, The Last Phoenix is a fun, beautiful game that presents a pretty original concept - maybe somewhere between Okami and Il-2 Sturmovik.

N+ is a super hard platformer where you play a ninja who has to beat a series of almost impossibly difficult levels. To top it off, along the way you'll have to collect the gold coins scattered all over the place. The levels are designed to be really hard, and sometimes beating them is so difficult that N+ can seem like more of a puzzle game than a platformer. Still, the only thing you need to beat this game is skill – which you'll need for every single jump you take. The elements that make N+ so special are its physics and devilish difficulty, occasionally reminiscent of the popular game Super Meat Boy, with dishearteningly difficult chain jumps and, here and there, practically impossible sections of platforms. Included with the game download is also a level editor to create and share your own torture chambers with other players. The editor is really easy to use, so you'll just need a quick tutorial for it. N+ is a really fun platform game. It has paid versions for other consoles, but it's completely free on PC.

If time runs out while you're still in a room, darkness engulfs everything and you have to start again. To get out, you'll need to follow instructions from a mysterious voice on a mysterious radio - and do what he says as fast as you can. The best part of Only If is, without a doubt, the graphics. C-Dogs SDL is a frenetic shooter game in which up to four players can participate simultaneously, both in cooperative mode and in different PvP modes. The game is based on C-Dogs, a free-to-play title developed in the late 1990s for MS-DoS by Ronny Wester, which despite being relatively little known, had a dedicated fan base. In 2002, Ronny released the game code, which allowed a new group of developers to port the game to SDL, making it compatible with modern computers. In C-Dogs SDL you will find more than a dozen different campaigns, many of them with special rules that will change the general gameplay. Most of these campaigns are inspired by a specific video game, as is the case of Doom, which is inspired by the game of the same name, and will allow you to relive this classic from a new perspective. One of the strong points of the game, moreover, is that you will be able to create and import your own campaigns, so you will have access to a virtually infinite assortment of hours of gameplay. All C-Dogs SDL campaigns can be played either solo or in cooperative mode with up to four players. The only mode that you will not be able to play solo is deathmatch. This game mode is reserved for multiplayer games, in which you will have to try to destroy your friends using the entire arsenal of the game: machine guns, shotguns, grenades, Molotov cocktails, chainsaws, and much more. C-Dogs SDL is a very fun action game, which manages to transfer the experience of the mythical run-and-gun of the late eighties and nineties, to modern computers. Thanks to its enormous versatility, you will be able to enjoy the game either alone, or with one, two or three friends on the same PC, or through a local network.

MegaMan Unlimited is a 2D platformer starring the popular Capcom icon, but that is not affiliated in any way with the Japanese company. Instead, the game has been developed solely by fans of the original titles. Visually and audibly, MegaMan Unlimited draws from the classics that appeared on the 8 Bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). From another point of view, however, the main source of inspiration for Unlimited comes from MegaMan 9 and 10. MegaMan Unlimited's story puts the player in the most unlikely of scenarios, in which Dr. Willy promises to help Mega Man when eight unknown robots begin to wreak havoc throughout the world, and to stop them he will need all the help he can get. Players will have to conquer eight different worlds and their bosses... plus an additional hidden world (also with its own 'boss'). MegaMan Unlimited is a worthy entry into the MegaMan franchise, which although unofficial and developed by amateurs, has enough quality to convince even the most sceptical of gamer.

Diggr is a very peculiar ‘roguelike’ game where, in order to survive, you have to reach level 26 of a dungeon brimming with enemies, killing all creatures that stand in your way. Although the concept sounds traditional, it’s the only classic thing about Diggr. For starters, Diggr is a ‘roguelike’ where players don’t have special attributes, or life points, or even a normal inventory of weapons. Instead, the players have five different variables and can carry two additional objects as equipment. This limited inventory could turn into a problem if you consider that during your adventure you’ll come across objects as varied as a death wand, a rocket launcher, a shotgun, magic potions, and even fire grenades. Meanwhile, you can bring a viking helmet, a chain mail, and a shotgun. On top of that, can make holes into the dungeon’s walls by using a pickaxe. All you need to do is stand in front of a wall and use it to open new paths. Diggr is a fast, unmerciful and very entertaining ‘roguelike’ game. You’ll die many times but don’t worry, that’s the whole point of Diggr, a game where you gain experience the hard way.
