Viriax is a classic arcade game where your objective is to advance as much as possible eliminating infectious cells through a series of levels that represent different sections of the human body. You will begin by purifying the heart, then the lungs and the intestines, but as you go along improving your score you will be able to unlock more and more phases for a total of twelve sickly levels that will certainly drive you out of your mind. And in spite of the fact that the mechanics of the game are very fun and frankly intuitive, the most significant element of Viriax is its enormous level of difficulty. The reason being that in order to move you have to use energy (the life bar), and for that reason you have to be very careful when deciding when it's worth attacking an enemy and when it is smarter to keep going forward. Of course none of this matters if one of the bosses destroys you in a couple of seconds... which is also possible. The unique visuals of the game continue in the line of Locomalito, with a charming pixelated style that will thrill thos who started playing videogames in the 80s and 90s. However, the graphics are nothing when you are hearing such an awesome soundtrack as the one that Gryzor87 proposes, the usual composer for Locomalito works. Viriax is an excellent title that, even if it is excessively difficult, manages to harness an atrocity thanks to it's addictive mechanics.

AVSEQ is an arcade in which you have to string together a series of atoms that will fall from the top of the screen, with the goal of creating musical notes that will play as the corresponding atom falls. The mechanics consist of basically being very fast, so the atoms do not come in contact with the ground, which will cause you to loose points. The notes that you will create with your atom chains are shown on the screen at random, so, in theory, there are millions and millions of possible resulting melodies from the combination of notes. AVSEQ is a perculiar independent game, with mechanics that will keep you playing and trying to beat scores, especially with the gratification you get from creating random melodies with your movements.

Open Hexagon is a game of...reflexes and instinct, in which the player will have to do something as simple as take a triangle through a labyrinth, which will become a very complicated task as the seconds go by. The game is a nearly exact open code copy of the great Super Hexagon from Terry Cavanagh, one of the most reputed independent developers at this moment. It offers a nearly identical playability with the difference that it has additional difficulty modalities and a bit worse music. But with Open Hexagon there comes a moment in which the music, the graphics and practically everything else stop being important. It´s the moment in which the speed of the game goes up and up and it will not only be enough to use our reflexes, we will also have to trust our instinct to guide our triangle. Polar is a unique game where you have to show your abilities and reflexes, using just one button. Its creator defines the game as a sort of 'Super Hexagon parody.' The gameplay is very simple. You control a spaceship that automatically moves in circles. It's your job to guide the ship through an asteroid field, coming at you in a series of different patterns. The one and only button lets you change directions and try to dodge the asteroids. The game, which was created in just one week, doesn't actually let you die. This means the only penalty for hitting the asteroids is that you can't move on to the next pattern. If you play well and dodge all the obstacles, the asteroids take on new shapes, becoming more and more complex and psychedelic. Polar is a strange game that has a simple soundtrack and even simpler, but addicting gameplay. If only it offered more of a challenge, like the ability to die, for example, it would be a fantastic game.

Maximus Action Carnage is like having a free to play traditional arcade game inside a modern computer. It's as if the legendary Commando had travelled through time, arcade machine in hand, and crept up inside your computer. The game's story, which in this case is of no real importance, puts us right in the middle of the war between Japan and the United States. The hero Maximus, last surviving member of a squad of American soldiers, has sworn to avenge his former colleagues, and will not hesitate in taking out any Japanese soldiers who get in his way. The game's controls, as with all arcade games of the age, are very simple. With the cursor you move the hero around the screen, always having to move forwards, and with the other two keys you shoot your machine gun and, occasionally, throw grenades that wipe out everything on the screen. Carnage Action Maximus is not a simple or boring game, although neither were the arcade machines of the early nineties. Instead, you get a lot of fun and a real challenge, the game is quite unforgiving and will punish your mistakes ruthlessly. You can also leave your name on the leader board to show off in front of your friends later.

Teleglitch is a roguelike quite different from those you're probably used to in this genre in that gameplay does not happen in turns nor are the graphics created from text. That said, its hellish level of difficulty and the randomness of its scenes will prove its primary identifying features. The game is set in an abandoned military base whose only inhabitants are the main character, armed with a simple pistol and very few bullets, as well as loads of bloodthirsty creatures that won't think twice about flinging themselves at you to kill you. Your aim is to escape from the complex, composed of 10 random levels that will get increasingly difficult. Luckily in Teleglitch you'll have an arsenal of more than 40 weapons or objects to help you get out alive. The best thing about these objects, in fact, is that you can combine to create new weapons. That is, you can create your own defenses with the junk you find on the scene. Teleglitch is a frenetic game combining roleplay with horror and intense action. That said, the game is very hard and might not appeal to all audiences.

Realistic Summer Sports Simulation is an odd arcade game that, despite what its name suggests, is not at all a realistic sporting event simulator. In fact, it's the opposite.
