Broken Sword 2.5 is a 'point and click' adventure game, which continues the story of the Broken Sword franchise, and fills the gap between the second and the third instalments (hence its name). The game is offered free because it has been developed solely by a team of amateurs. Broken Sword 2.5 is faithful to the visual style of the first two instalments of the series, with graphics that border on a cartoon style, some lovely two dimensional backgrounds, and logical puzzles that are not overly complex. The main difference to the earlier games, of course, is that it does not have the original dubbing. In any case, the most important thing in a Broken Sword is the storyline, and once more you get a script full of intrigue, with the American George Stobbart again caught in the eye of a storm. Other well known characters such as Nicole or Lobineau André also make an appearance to the delight of the fans. Broken Sword 2.5 is an excellent adventure game that has everything to dazzle fans of the series who saw the beautiful 2D graphics replaced by a far more ugly three dimensional look in Broken Sword 3.

Octodad

Octodad is a very strange game, and is difficult to place in any one genre in particular. The reason for this is that your goal throughout the game is to perform simple tasks like turning off your alarm clock or picking up an object with a tentacle. Of course, carrying out these seemingly routine tasks may seem easy enough for a normal person, but it is a different story altogether for an octopus. And this is where the gameplay in Octodad takes shape, you can control each of the octopus´ tentacles independently... with all the complications that entails. The best way to visualise the control system in Octodad is to compare it with the role of a puppeteer. The problem is that, along with the usual awkwardness of controlling a puppet, you also have to take care of the children and carry out tasks such as clothing them... at the end of the day your new favourite octopus is a great dad above all else. Graphically, Octodad is a really beautiful game and thanks to its 'cartoon' look and its colourful graphics, the game manages to be very pleasing on the eye. It also has support for resolutions up to 1920x1080. Octodad is one of the most original independent games of recent years, as proven by the huge number of awards it has won at a number of gaming festivals. Best of all is that it is not just a truly original title, but a really entertaining one.

The Unknown

The Unknown is a first-person horror game where players control a character lost and disoriented deep in some catacombs, from which they'll have to try to escape while keeping their sanity intact. The dungeon is randomly generated as you move through it, such that no two games will be the same. Thanks to this, The Unknown is a very replayable title that always (or almost always) will have a fright awaiting you. You'll find many elements typical of horror games in the various corridors and rooms of the catacombs, such as traces of blood, locked gates, or objects that fall in your path. But what you will really be afraid of is 'the creature', to give a name to whatever is that's in there with you. This ghostly creature will follow you everywhere and, occasionally, attack your mental state. If it manages to send your fear level over 10, your character will go completely insane and you lose the game. The Unknown is a first-person horror game in the same vain as Slender, but offering a slightly different experience. It also has spectacular graphics ... though perhaps a little too dark.

Awakener

Awakener is a traditional graphic adventure where you control Fadi, a young boy who needs to help his aunt with a pretty serious problem: there's a man sleeping at the door to her tavern, and he's impossible to wake up. To wake the man in the doorway, you'll have to dive into a story full of absurd characters and dialog in the purest 90s graphic adventure style. The whole adventure develops from one location. You'll have to talk to different characters, collect some objects, and of course solve a few puzzles. For example, a girl who is eating potatoes will only give you one of them if you give her some salt first. Since the adventure is only in that one scene, it's relatively short - about 20 minutes of gameplay. Still, it offers up more than one laugh thanks to some great dialog, like the one with the spacey assassin. Awakener is a traditional graphic adventure, with traditional graphics, traditional gameplay, and a traditional sense of humor.

Hide is a first person adventure horror game where players control a character who is running from another mysterious character. At no point do you find out why you have to run, nor who you are running from, all you know is that if you reach the end it will all be over. Your goal, as in the main title of the Slender games, is to find five different elements scattered throughout the snowy forest. These can be found literally anywhere: in the facade of a lonely house, on a rock, a tree, etc. The best thing about Hide is the audio. It can fill you with more fear that any other game in the genre just by using its minimal score and powerful sound effects. Then when you add in the a retro visuals, the result is a truly frightening adventure. Hide is a truly scary adventure with lots traditional elements, and while there is nothing really innovative as far as the gameplay is concerned, it does manage to create a really scary environment with a technical level that is actually far more advanced than it may initially appear.

Sara Is Missing is a visual adventure that unfolds on Sara's smartphone. Sara is a young woman who has disappeared without a trace. Now it's your job to figure out what happened to Sara - but it won't be easy, because her smartphone is badly damaged. This game takes place on Sara's smartphone, which is to say that your computer screen 'transforms' into Sara's smartphone. Use your mouse on the smartphone's interface as you would your fingertip: tap icons, swipe up and down, and so on. You can access her messages, emails, gallery, and music player. All the clues you need to solve the case are there, but it's your job to find them and put them together. I See You is a first-person horror adventure that, unlike the vast majority of games in this genre, doesn't try to scare you through the main character, but instead goes directly for the player sitting in front of the computer, mouse in hand. The backstory is straightforward: you'll be trapped inside a strange abandoned hospital, and have to find the right keys in order to escape. On the way, though, you'll encounter something that won't want you to get away. During the game you'll come across messages aimed at you, the player, that will try to scare and confuse you. Some of them will attack your perceptions directly, to make you more vulnerable. The best part of I See You, in any case, comes when you finally finish, something that shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes. I See You is a first-person horror adventure that will give you more than one good scare. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

Punity is the Windows adaptation of the brilliant game P.T., the Silent Hills technical demo by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro that so thoroughly amazed and terrified players on Playstation 4. In this tribute to the Konami classic, players walk through the legendary terrifying hallway. The game system in Punity is very similar to the original P.T. Players can walk up and down the sinister hallway and take in all the details. The sounds, bumps, and strange movements you'll start noticing are what make this game amazing. The game has very similar graphics to the technical demo mentioned earlier. Most surprisingly, it uses the versatile motor Unity, so if you have a powerful operating system and can set the graphics at the highest settings, you'll be able to enjoy this spectacular terror even more. Punity, just like P.T., is a video game that brings you a truly terrifying playing experience. Walking down a hallway has never been so scary ... and those scares are totally guaranteed.

With a great story and traditional gameplay, 5 Days a Stranger delivers on everything you'd expect from a good horror adventure game: explore the mansion, collect objects, talk with different characters ... and try to survive. 5 Days a Stranger is the first of four adventures that make up Chzo Mythos, almost all of which feature the same burglar, Trilby.

To be able to advance in the story and carry on with your life, you'll have to resolve most of these situations by solving different puzzles. On some occasions you'll have to find an object between the seats of the train, on another carry a much-loved object to a ghost, and in others simply defend yourself. The Train is a horror adventure with a spectacular setting, which especially benefits from its excellent graphics. Although it's not very long, you'll find this to be an outstanding adventure of terror on lots of different levels.

1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg is a curious horror adventure in which you take on the role of a German soldier during the First World War who must escape the horrors he finds in the trenches... a feat which will not be easy. Gameplay is in the first person, just like on a first person shooter game, but instead of having to face the different dangers you encounter head on, your objective is actually to avoid them at all costs, as your hero is quite damaged emotionally and all he can really do is run. The adventure is quite short and will barely last a few moments, but that is more than enough time to fully convey the fear and horrors of war. Plus, the black and white graphics come with an ageing filter that makes the setting feel perfect. 1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg is a great first person horror game in a great setting and with a somewhat simple gameplay that still manages to keep you constantly on the edge.

This version, which is completely free, lets you play in creative mode, where you can build without any type of restrictions, and create an entire city building by building. What you have to do to open the application is click on the file called Start, and enter a username in the window that pops up. Once you accept, you have to wait for a few second for the main screen to load and access the game. Bathroom is a Japanese horror game where you start out in the murky depths of a random bathroom, without a single clue as to why you're there or exactly where you came from. The only thing you'll know for sure is that in order to open the exit door you have to type in a four-digit code. Oddly enough, you'll soon realize that even deep inside this dreary, dark bathroom there are still piles of objects to play with like portraits (all of them of Audrey Hepburn -- don't ask us why), a mirror, and a tiny box closed with lock and key. Actually physically leaving the bathroom is not really the end of Bathroom, but it is the central part of the game. Once you manage to find the right combination and get the door open, you'll go down the hall and the main room of a mysterious house. And let's just say, it's probably best if each player finds out everything that can happen on their own. Bathroom is a really terrifying horror game, which like all of its kind, is best enjoyed in the dark and with headphones (or with your volume turned all the way up). In short, we're looking at one of those games that, although short, gives you more of a fright. Especially thanks to its excellent soundtrack, which will keep you alert and in constant tension.

Manic Digger is a shameless clone of Minecraft that copies without modesty both the basic gameplay of the game and the graphics of the title created by Notch, to offer a practically identical game but with open codex and completely free. This way, in Manic Digger you start the game with a single character on a deserted island that's generated in a random way while you move on it, and that you can 'decompose' square by square. With the left click you can take away any block of the scenario (sand, earth, wood, stone...) and with the right click you can place a new block. In the present version of the game, the inventory is always full of each type of blocks in a similar way as it happens in the creative version of Minecraft. So, you will not have to worry about gathering materials when you start to create your houses, buildings, monuments and other structures. Another benefit you won't find in Manic Digger is the presence of enemy creatures or characters controlled by the artificial intelligence. Even so, you will have the possibility to play on servers with friends and even apply different mods and texture patches. Manic Digger is a very interesting alternative for Minecraft. Of course, it doesn't offer the same quantity or quality of benefits, but a quite similar general experience in a completely free way.

Pokemon 3D

Pokemon 3D is a recreation of the classic Pokemon Gold/Silver 3D that, as usual, puts you in the shoes of a Pokemon trainer whose goal is to become better by winning all the medals from all the gyms. The game has the same mechanics as the original titles. That is, you can move freely around the map and different cities, you will have to manage your inventory, talk with other characters, and of course capture and train Pokemons. The only difference in this version compared to the Nintendo DS versions is that it is played in first-person view instead of third-person. That being said, the game conserves the same appearance, resulting in a fairly accurate visual look. Although you still can't play it, the final Pokemon 3D version will also have a multiplayer mode in which you can face Pokemon trainers from all over the world. Pokemon 3D is an excellent adventure game--a thrill for fans of one of the most successful franchises in videogame history.

Guybrush Threepwood, the spacey but intrepid pirate created by Ron Gilbert, returns in this series of graphic adventures that have managed to revive one of the best video game sagas in history. In this episode, Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (the first of five parts), Guybrush inadvertently ends up infecting almost the whole Caribbean pirate population with a voodoo sickness that transforms them into monsters. Of course, he does it all with the 'help' of LeChuck, his eternal foe. The adventure, which has traditional gameplay, continues with the great sense of humor that made the saga famous, including the same crazy situations and touch of romance with the ever-charming Governor Elaine. The game's graphics aren't all that impressive, but its caricature-like character styles fit perfectly with the storyline. Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal is just the beginning of an excellent graphic adventure series that, while it may not be at the same heights as the original trilogy, is still worthy of the comparison.

Dark Ocean is a horrific third person perspective game in which players play as Liz, the only survivor of a viral outbreak on a ship that she herself designed. She finds herself alone, surrounded by zombies, trapped in a metal prison of her own making. To get out alive, our hero will have to face off with a variety of zombie-like creatures capable of climbing on the walls and the ceiling. To defend herself against these creatures our hero can use several makeshift weapons such as a flare gun or the blinding effect of a camera's flash mechanism for a quick escape. Although in many cases you will find yourself surrounded by enemies, you will also have to solve different puzzles along the way to escape from challenging situations. Dark Ocean is a formidable horror game. Although certain visual aspects of the game could use some improvement, it can certainly provide a few good scares to more alert players. The game, apart from being Spanish, is also free.

Grave is a horror adventure game where the player moves freely around an abandoned town, collecting the various objects that will move the (brief) story forward. You initially get just a flashlight, which you use to light the way, but you will soon find some audio files that tell you more about what is going on. At the beginning of the adventure you wander around the village on a relatively quiet day, but the night time will be upon you. That's when you must make good use of the flashlight and the creatures, called 'strangers', will begin to appear on the scene. Our hero has no way to defend himself against these creatures, so the only thing you can do is to turn and flee. And it is for this very reason that Grave is so terrifying. Additionally, the game has support for Oculus Rift, thanks to which you will achieve even greater levels of immersion. Grave is a first person horror game that is genuinely terrifying. It also has some spectacular graphics that, thanks to their attention to detail, will leave you speechless on various occasions throughout the game.

Pizza Delivery is a first person horror adventure game where you control a pizza deliveryman through what will prove to be the worst job of his life. Upon arriving at the delivery address, a voice from inside the house tells you to come in and leave the pizza inside. The problem is that once you leave the pizza on the table, not only does nobody come to meet you, but all the lights turn off. From that point on, you have to go wandering around the house in the dark, with only a candle to light the way. The front door is now locked, so you have to find another way out... which will not be easy. More than once, you will notice strange presences around the house. Sometimes when you turn around quickly you will see something. At other times, you will see... other strange things. Pizza Delivery is a small terror filled adventure that lasts barely half an hour, but still packs in a good number of scares. In addition, the hero remains helpless at all times, which just serves to increase the tension.

Psycho Adventure Game is a traditional adventure game that transfers the events of Alfred Hitchcock's foundational film Psycho to video game format, reinterpreting some of the most famous scenes to create a well-rounded gameplay experience. So, while the main storyline remains largely intact, several puzzles have been added to make the game more challenging. Anyone who has seen Psycho will automatically recognize both the story and the characters. The game, in fact, starts with a scene from the movie in which the main character, Marion Crane, is driving in the pouring rain after making off with a pile of money. In the distance, she sees a roadside motel and decides to stop. You start controlling Miss Crane directly here and must help her settle in Bate's Motel. The gameplay of Psycho Adventure Game will be familiar to anyone who has ever played a traditional point-and-click adventure game. At the bottom, you will have nine different verbs, which you can use to interact with the different elements of the setting and the rest of the characters. You can look at any object, talk to characters, open and close doors, push and pull, use, give, and, of course, take items from the scene to add to your inventory. This is how you will have to try to solve all the puzzles in the game and advance in the story. When you start playing Psycho Adventure Game, you control Marion Crane and have to help her check into Bate's Motel and hide her money in a safe place. However, as you progress through the game, you can control more characters. Each character in the game has their own items in the inventory and, of course, their own objectives, which you must try to accomplish. The different changes in perspective that you will experience throughout the adventure can be pretty surprising. Download Psycho Adventure Game and enjoy a traditional adventure game that manages to adapt one of the biggest and most influential horror movies in history to video game format exquisitely. The game maintains the same oppressive atmosphere as the film while adding some elements typical of the video game medium, such as additional puzzles and conversation trees. The icing on the cake is the beautiful black-and-white pixel art, both terrifying and evocative.

Northbound is an indie game developed by Johannes Köberle and Arno Justus where you play as a young man who wants to revisit his past. To do so, he embarks on an impromptu road trip with his childhood friends. But on this journey, he'll discover that many things have changed since they were teenagers. Without a doubt, you'll be stunned by this game's gorgeous graphics from the very beginning. Northbound is structured like a graphic novel, so you'll be immersed in the story in no time. In addition, the soundtrack creates an enveloping and relaxing atmosphere that's always in tune with what you're seeing. To move your character, simply slide the mouse in the direction you want to look. In the same way, you can advance by pressing keys on your keyboard. On the other hand, Northbound also lets you make certain decisions that set the pace of the story, although it barely takes an hour from start to finish. But there's no rush, so you can take all the time you need. Northbound is a great adventure game with outstanding graphics and music. Although it doesn't have an extensive plot, you can experience this trip at your own pace and savor the development of this game that's so good, it deserves a spot on a paid platform like Steam.

Dungeon Nightmares is a first person terror game where you will control a person who suffers from horrible nightmares every night, as he is taken to a dark dungeon where he is never alone. While you are in the randomly-generated dungeons, you can investigate all of the corridors and interact with different elements, like coffers or doors. In addition, you can use objects like candles to try to illuminate the darkest rooms as you search for the artifact that will allow you to leave. The problem is that you are never alone in the dungeons. The number and variety of scares that you will encounter during the Dungeon Nightmares adventure will keep you constantly tense. Sometimes, when you least expect it, something will make you jump out of your chair. The best thing about it is that, as everything is randomly generated, you never know when to expect a scare. Dungeon Nightmare is an outstanding terror game. Don't be fooled by the fact that the game is free, as this is a long, complex game that will give more than one player a heart attack.

Lego The Lord of the Rings is an action and adventure game where you get to relive the events of the most influential epic fantasy of all times, with charismatic Lego figures. The game features content from each of the three books (although it is based directly on the movies): The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and the Return of the King. Through each of these adventures, you can control not only Sam and Frodo, but dozens of characters from Aragorn to Legolas, from Gandalf to Gollum himself. Every one of the characters has his own ability, and lets you not only try very different things, but also unlocking new areas of the map. In Lego Lord of the Rings, you get to travel across Middle-Earth, from the mines of Moria to Hobbiton, though Mordor. The graphics of Lego The Lord of the Rings are very nice. Although the Lego character models do not give much, all the effects and elements around them are delightful, and they have clearly received quite a bit of attention. Lego The Lord of the Rings is an excellent adventure game whose main advantage is that it is entertaining to gamers of all ages. While the mechanics are simple, it makes up for this with its sense of humor and constant puzzles.
