Telepath Tactics is a turn-based strategy game similar to Fire Emblem where you have to lead an army of soldiers through a campaign full of political plots, with conflicts solved on the battlefield. Telepath Tactics is set in a very special fantasy world. Here, magic doesn't exist, but you can indeed find psychic powers and elements from steampunk (rifles, steam weapons, etc.). In this peculiar world there are no elves, dwarves, or dragons. Instead you'll find only humans, and a few other races invented exclusively for the game. The gameplay in Telepath Tactics is very similar to that of Fire Emblem. You have to move your troops by turns and attack enemy forces, keeping in mind that each weapon has a specific reach and power, and that the terrain is a key factor. For instance, you can throw enemies to rivers of lava, destroy buildings with troops inside, and even build bridges. Telepath Tactics is a fun turn-based strategy game that's full of possibilities. Warcraft Remake is, as its name indicates, a remake of the first Warcraft by Blizzard, developed with its own engine, the Lion Engine, which allows the game to work well on both full screen, on a window, and even on a browser. Gameplay is identical to the original: you have to erect buildings, obtain resources, train units and, of course, use all of your resources to finish off your enemies. The game uses exactly the same graphics and sounds as the original Blizzard game; so fans of Warcraft will feel right at home as soon as they start playing Warcraft Remake. Warcraft Remake only allows single players games in which you can set up which side you want to begin the game with (humans or orcs), the side you want to play against, the type of map, and if the map starts off completely visible or not. Because it is a game that is currently in development, Warcraft Remake, only has two different dueling scenes. On these scenes you can try to beat the artifice intelligence by being quicker and more intelligent than it is. Warcraft Remake is a real-time strategy game in which players must try to defeat their enemies in the never-ending battle between humans and orcs.

Jagged Alliance - Back in Action

Coreplay GmbH, Bigmoon Studios

5 (833)

Jagged Alliance returns after more than a decade with 'Back in Action', a sequel developed by a different company, which attempts to modernize one of the best turn-based strategy games in history without damaging the game's essence. The result of those changes is that combat is no longer turn-based. Instead, action takes place in realtime, though you can always pause if you need to plan your next move. At first glance, it may remind you of Frozen Synapse... but a lot simpler. Besides combat, you'll see a lot that's similar to earlier installments of the saga: a 'realistic' setting that combines a story of revolutions and mercenaries with serious weaponry, tons of enemy soldiers, resource-management, etc. The game's graphics aren't its strong point, but they don't detract from the experience either. The best part of playing isn't seeing your mercenaries kill their enemies, but rather knowing that they're succeeding thanks to your good decisions. Jagged Alliance - Back in Action is a sequel that's well worth your time to play. If you liked the other games in the series, you shouldn't miss out on this update.

Doomsday: Last Survivors

IGG.COM

4 (1049)

Doomsday: Last Survivors is a strategy and management game, set in a near post-apocalyptic future, where zombies have taken over the world. Players will be able to guide one of the last remnants of humanity left on Earth, with the goal of building a safe haven for all the survivors, who have to fight day after day to keep breathing. The main mechanic of Doomsday: Last Survivors is very similar to that of other strategy and resource management games: you start with a small and poorly developed base, and as you complete missions and earn rewards, you will be able to improve it. Little by little, you will build new buildings and level up the ones that are already constructed in your base. And to do all this, what you will need are two fundamental resources: food and wood. Fortunately, it won't be long before you start producing your own resources, thanks to farms and sawmills. One aspect that sets Doomsday: Last Survivors apart from other games in the same genre is that its story mode does a lot of heavy lifting, with the main plot starring an adult man and a young girl, quite reminiscent of Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us. Even some of the story aspects are reminiscent of Naughty Dog's game. The main missions in the game will allow you to advance through this central story arc, while you discover many other subplots in which you will get to know the rest of the characters, of which there are many. Speaking of characters, in Doomsday: Last Survivors you will be able to recruit more than thirty different heroes, each with their own background and special abilities, which you will be able to utilize during battles. All the heroes, moreover, are well-designed, with fluid animations that give them a truly spectacular appearance. As is common in games with a system similar to Gacha, the way to obtain almost all these characters is completely random: you will have to use your diamonds to send vehicles out of the shelter, looking for survivors who want to join. As a result, little by little and with a bit of luck, you will be able to recruit them all. Although most of your time will be spent managing the village where your survivors live, sometimes you will also have to go out and face the zombies face to face. In this type of missions you can enjoy a sort of Tower Defense mechanic, where your heroes will be located in one part of the map, and you will have to try to repel the constant zombie attacks. This is where the special abilities of each character will come into play. Some are able to create barriers, others carry out area attacks, and others allow you to concentrate damage on specific points of the map. Learning to use these skills well can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Doomsday: Last Survivors is a good strategy game, which even has some subtle RPG touches. A very entertaining title, that after succeeding on iOS and Android devices, comes to Windows in style, with new configuration options, which will allow you to enjoy the game's graphics in HD and at 60 FPS. And, just in case anyone was wondering, yes, your user account for the mobile version is fully compatible with the PC version.

Freeciv

Freeciv

3 (543)

Freeciv is a free and open source turn-based strategy game that's openly inspired by the Civilization saga or, more specifically, the second and third installments of the franchise. Players can play both offline against the artificial intelligence in games that can last for hours, or online against more than 100 human players from all over the world. The gameplay in Freeciv is very similar to that of the aforementioned Civilization 2, although with some additions and tweaks inspired by the third installment, as well. New games start in 4000 BC by default, with just one settler and one explorer; it's up to you to guide your civilization through the years, centuries, and millennia on your quest to become a dominant world power that's capable of winning the game. But how do you win the game? That's easy: you can either annihilate the rest of the civilizations or build a spaceship to reach Alpha Centauri. The learning curve for the vast majority of 4X (the strategy subgenre to which Freeciv belongs) is usually quite high. For this reason, the game not only has a good tutorial, in which you can learn the basics of the game, but it also has a Wiki with several official manuals depending on the rules you're playing with. That said, anyone who has ever played a Civilization game can see that the game is indeed very similar, and the general mechanics are almost identical to any game in Sid Meier's franchise. One of the most notable aspects of Freeciv is the large number of customization options available when creating a new game. On one hand, there are the scenarios, which are games created by the community in which you play on certain maps (Japan, United States, Europe, Earth) with a specific number of opponents. On the other hand, there are also the standard games, in which you play on a procedurally generated map against however many opponents you want. The best part? No matter what, you can play both against the AI and against your friends over the Internet. Freeciv is an excellent turn-based strategy game and a true love letter to video games. The first version of this project was released completely free of charge in 1997, with many improvements made to it since then, including bringing it to more than a dozen operating systems in more than 30 languages. It's a real gift for video game fans and, more specifically, anyone who appreciates a good strategy game.

Age of DOOM is an independent mod that introduces the story and characters from Doom in the Age of Empire 2 engine. The result is a real-time strategy game with an isometric perspective, in which you and your mouse control the legendary Doomguy and must face hordes from hell. The process to install Age of DOOM is quite simple. All you have to do is decompress the compressed file in any folder and follow the instructions in the PDF manual. These instructions are so simple that, in less than a minute, you will be playing the original version of Age of Empires 2, though you must follow them very carefully. Age of DOOM has a tutorial where you can learn all the game's exclusive mechanics, as well as an extensive campaign that combines the Doom and Doom 3 storylines. The tutorial might seem too easy or even repetitious for old Age of Empires 2 players, but it's worth taking a look at since it introduces some of this mod's unique mechanics, such as the ability to use switches or to sprint. The main campaign in Age of DOOM is pretty long, with four episodes that each last over an hour. In each episode, you will have to go up against some of the most well-known monsters in Doom that have been perfectly recreated in the Age of Empires 2 engine. You will have to wipe out incessant hordes of Imps, Pinkys, Zombie men and Cacodemons, among many others. You can even face off some of the most legendary bosses of the saga. Age of DOOM is a fast-paced strategy game that offers you an enjoyable and very fun experience somewhere halfway between Doom and Age of Empires. This is another success of the modder community that is sure to delight fans of both franchises.

You play the leader of a faction charged with protecting the barbarian city of Jorvik. That requires you to negotiate with other faction leaders, lead your men into battle, explore new lands, and solve the problems of your people. This means you're sometimes immersed in pure strategy, and other times find yourself inside a dungeon surrounded by enemies you have fight. The fun part about the game is that your actions, no matter what you do, always have consequences. If you make an enemy faction angry, you might end up going to war at the worst possible moment. But if you help an ally too much you might lose sight of the orcs ... which is clearly not a good idea. Depths of Peril is a highly entertaining game with a unique and addictive gameplay. Endgame: Syria is a strategy game in which the objective, far from killing all enemies or conquering territories, consists 'simply' of trying to make a peace agreement with the Syrian government. The game, which aims to be educational, is based on the real conflict in Syria and is documented accordingly. It will suggest a series of situations that we'll have to try to resolve, by turns, using action cards that range from getting support from Turkey and other countries to evacuating refugees. In addition to diplomacy, in Endgame: Syria you'll find a strong battle component in which the government troops will face yours. But of course, taking into account that the player takes control of the rebels, you will usually find yourself at a considerable disadvantage. The graphic and audio sections of Endgame: Syria are no big deal, and in fact both are very minimalist. This means that everything you see in the game will be static images and all you'll hear are simple sounds. Endgame: Syria is rather more educational than entertaining, and though it may not exactly provide hours of fun, it will help you understand the ins and outs of a very important modern conflict which is going on quite unnoticed.

A-B-City is a rather peculiar strategy and puzzle game where players create a city using only the letters they have available to spell the names of buildings. Once you've placed a building on any part of the map, you'll earn letters. You can then use those letters to write the names of buildings to later add to your city. For example, you can spell 'flat' to create an apartment building, and then 'garden' to create a park right next to it. Once you have buildings that provide housing (such as apartment buildings or houses), you'll attract citizens. But once you have citizens, you'll need to create jobs and recreational spaces for them. That means you have to create everything from office buildings and shopping malls to soccer stadiums and tennis courts. A-B-City's gameplay is much simpler than it might seem at first, which is why it's so much fun. You can spend a nice chunk of time figuring all the types of buildings the game offers, and then even more time trying to make them fit into your city.

Choose hair and skin color, t-shirt, shoes and trousers and give them a name. Once you'll have created your troop you'll be ready to get into the battle. Each turn you have ten Action Points for each character that can be used to move, interact with the armory, open chests and bags you'll find in the field or kill enemies. Choose your way, choose the weapon you'll use because there are more than 40 different weapons, each one with a different power and AP consumption. shotguns, UZI, grenades, cannons... Don't forget to cover yourself with an armory or heal by using the healing kits, sometimes it can really important and decisive to win the battle. Don't hesitate, plan your strategy, find the proper weaponry, find the enemies and, of course, annihilate them.
