The Man in the Mirror

N/A

4 (850)

The Man in the Mirror is a very strange role-playing game where you control a patient in an asylum who suffers from acute schizophrenia and is isolated in a padded room. Everything changes when, thanks to his isolation and psychological issues, he sees a demon. Strangely enough, this demon helps him leave the room and invites him into a demonic dimension. You can use this dimension to access otherwise inaccessible areas of the map. As you play, you'll have to confront various types of enemies, from your own psychological issues to the psychologists themselves, as well as demons who are upset that you're trespassing in the demonic dimension. To defend yourself, you can use stones, knives, and other makeshift weapons. The combat system, as in many roguelikes, is turn-based. Every time you hit an enemy, the enemy will have a chance to hit you back. The Man in the Mirror is a strange roguelike. Instead of focusing solely on the combat system or the stats of the main character, it has a unique story in an interesting world.

In Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords, an RPG created by RPG Maker VX, you play Lann, a normal everyday kid who finds himself in the middle of something that may change the world as he knows it forever. Players start their adventure with Lann and his sister Liara when they wake up in their quiet village. However, you soon embark on an adventure that will take you further and further into an increasingly dangerous world where you'll come across ever-stronger enemies. Thanks to this experience, you'll be able to level up your two main characters along with the other heroes who join them over the 20+ hours of playtime found in Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords. Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords' gameplay is simple and will be familiar to most fans of the genre. The game's story remains interesting for the more than 20 hours of play (even if it's not especially complex).

Mythruna is a sandbox role-playing game that uses similar game mechanics as Minecraft to allow its players to interact with their surroundings. That means that they can alter any element of the terrain: breaking it, fixing it, building it, etc. The game is currently in its very early development stages, so the majority of playable races are not yet actually playable (humans, elves, dwarfs, and more), which means that the game still looks very similar to the famous Minecraft design. In other words, although there are future plans for more features and complex elements, at the moment you can't do much more in Mythruna than pick up blocks an add them to your inventory. You'll be able to build your own fortresses and much more, but without all of the typical aspects that you would expect from a role playing game. Mythruna is still a fun experience that should attract any fan of Minecraft. It may have a similar visual style, but it has been created very carefully and includes various original elements.

The Witch and the Warrior is an old school, Super Nintendo-style role-playing game where you play as a young, powerful witch whose upbringing has been pretty tough because of who she is - a witch. The game's story begins by dealing with the idealogical programs that exist between spell-casters and normal people, and soon launches you into a magical story in which you'll learn how to fly and even earn your very own familiar (a pet owned by a witch or wizard). Combat is turn-based, like in other, similar games. You will select which moves Ember and her group of friends will perform, and then your opponents will take their turn. The Witch and the Warrior is a classic JRPG with lovable graphics and a charming story. It is highly recommended for anyone who still enjoys Super Nintendo's golden era.

Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries

Enlight Software

3 (868)

Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries is a real-time strategy game principally focused on combat where the players can select one of the seven available cultures to participate in a war of epic scale: facing off are the Japanese, Chinese, Mayans, Persians, Vikings, Greeks, and Normans. Unlike many other real-time strategy games, Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries doesn't place undue emphasis on resource management, minimizing much of this very workaday segment. In its place, all sights are trained on combat, where the game really shines – when dozens of units are clashing simultaneously on the screen. That said, it's not all war in Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries, since you can also initiate various diplomatic gambits with other cultures, such as making goodwill treaties, buying and selling food, exchanging technology, or even forming alliances to battle other, more powerful enemies. The possibilities are quite broad. Seven Kingdoms: Ancient Adversaries is an excellent strategy game that in spite of having been commercially released at the end of the nineties became free and open-source in the year 2009.

Blitz Meet is a fun arcade game that combines the traditional gameplay of Pong with a series of novelties that make it a completely different and much more addictive experience. The gameplay is pretty simple: there are two knights, one on each side of the screen. Your goal is to destroy the wall behind the opponent by using your sword, and the only way to do it is by hitting a bouncing ball, just like in Pong. So you'll have to defend your wall, which has lives, while you try to break the opponent's wall. From time to time, you can get different power-ups that will give you longer swords and other benefits which make hitting the ball easier. Of course, the game can only be played in pairs. Fortunately, Blitz Meet supports joysticks, so you can play with either a keyboard or the Xbox 360 joystick, for example. Blitz Meet is a great PC game for two people. Its polished and original gameplay make it a fun choice.

Spine: PS4 Emulator

Spine: PS4 Emulator is a PlayStation 4 emulator that, despite being in private development, has a demo available, making it possible to test out the compatibility of some of the games on the platform. According to its own developer, it's the first PS4 emulator capable of correctly running mainstream games. However, it's currently only available on Linux. The compatibility list, which as with all emulators, will improve with each new update, shows that around 35% of the games tested with Spine: PS4 Emulator work. However, the fact that they work does not mean that they are perfectly playable. PlayStation 4 emulation is, as they say, still in its infancy, which means that the vast majority of emulated video games that work have different types of glitches, bugs, and other graphical defects. It is important to note that, at the moment, Spine: PS4 Emulator does not even have a graphical interface or the options that many emulator users may be used to. For example, you can't configure the controls as you wish; instead, they're predefined (you can find these on the author's website). Spine: PS4 Emulator is an incredibly promising PlayStation 4 emulator for PC that's already capable of running numerous video games on Linux. Hopefully, in the near future, we'll see releases for Windows or Mac as well, which will bring the emulation of this new generation of consoles to many more computers.

Shadow Break is a complicated arcade game where you control a ninja using a ball to break down all the blocks on the ceiling of each level, in order to free the samurai that are locked up there... so that you can kill them. In practice, Shadow Break is very similar to the classic Arkanoid, except here you can perform various different moves. You can move from side to side, jump, slide quickly, and, of course, attack with your sword. Those attacks are really helpful in changing the direction of the ball, but even more so when it comes to finishing off the samurai, who will make your life very difficult once they manage to escape from their cells. When they do, not only do you have to make sure that the ball doesn't hit the ground, but you have to kill the samurai while you're at it. Shadow Break is an arcade game with a simple, traditional base that hides complicated, difficult gameplay. It's an excellent twist on a well-known concept.

Hammerwatch is a role and action game with a retro aesthetic that follows the basic premise of the classical Gauntlet. It also has certain elements that will remind the player of Magicka, and offers an experience full of dungeons, skeletons, swords, and spells for one, two, three, or four players. Our objective in the game is very simple: enter dungeons to kill anything that's moving and take all the treasure we can. You can carry out this complicated mission either alone—choosing one of the classes (warrior, rogue, magician)—or in a team with the help your friends. The dungeons are generated randomly, which means you'll never play the same round twice. Furthermore, you will find a large variety of traps, puzzles, and enemies, which will come in endless hoards to try and terminate your character. The game's graphics have a retro aesthetic that suits the game really well. Also, thanks to the animations and the fluidity of effects like magic or fire, the game never seems old-fashioned, just classy. Hammerwatch is a very entertaining game that takes a rather old production like Gauntlet and turns it into a very entertaining and modern videogame that you can enjoy just as much on your own as well as with a few friends.

Flycast Dojo is a fork of Flycast, one of the most powerful Sega Dreamcast, Naomi, and Atomiswave emulators available. Its main objective, and what differentiates it from the original Flycast, is that it includes a series of features for online gaming, with a special emphasis on the competitive mode and holding Dreamcast game tournaments online. At the interface level, Flycast Dojo is virtually identical to the original Flycast, with a few subtle differences reflecting the new online gameplay features that have been added. In the main window of the emulator, you'll see a small tab in the upper left corner, from which you can join online games started by other players or start your own. This tab, by default, is in offline mode, but you can change it at any time. Although it's pretty easy to use, Flycast Dojo has a good number of tutorials on its official website so you can get familiar with some of its newer features. In any case, playing online with a friend is as simple as starting a game in Host mode, copying the Match Code, and sharing it with your friend, who can then enter it in the appropriate field when starting the game in Join mode. That's it. Like this, playing any Dreamcast game online is a breeze. In the settings, you'll also find some new features, most of which are oriented to online play. From the Netplay tab, you can modify some of the default options. For example, you can activate or deactivate the chat, which makes it easy to talk to anyone you're playing with. If you prefer not to talk with them, simply deactivate this option. Here, you can also choose your username or your preferred way to connect. Flycast Dojo is an absolutely outstanding Dreamcast emulator. And the reason why is very simple: Flycast Dojo is a fork that improves upon Flycast, which in turn is a fork that improved upon Reicast, one of the best Dreamcast emulators for PC. In other words, it's an emulator created from the best of years and years of development, adding all the features that the community has deemed necessary over that period of time. The result is a lightweight, powerful, easy-to-use software, full of features aimed at helping you enjoy one of the best consoles in history.
