Final Fight LNS Ultimate is a beat'em up developed with OpenBOR and based on Capcom's classic game Final Fight. This version, however, offers a fresh experience by including additional characters and settings from the company's other sagas. The extensive cast includes characters from tons of sagas, including Street Fighter and Darkstalkers, plus many others. Each character has special moves, and the sprites are generally borrowed from the Super Nintendo versions of each game. This, combined with the possibility of playing up to four characters at a time, makes this game a wildly dynamic and collaborative experience. Through the story mode, you can explore familiar places from the Final Fight trilogy and interact with the scenario by breaking containers, collecting weapons, and picking up valuables to earn points. This game is typical for the genre, although it has been adapted for PCs, which includes a 16:9 aspect ratio among other improvements. Final Fight LNS Ultimate is an interesting dream match. Its cast of characters is wide-ranging and a little strange, but ultimately, this is an amazing gaming experience that proves, once again, that the beat'em up genre is absolutely timeless.

Patchwork

Patchwork is a gorgeous graphic adventure where you control two different characters: a modern scientist exploring the possibility of travelling between different dimensions and a wizard's apprentice from an unknown race that will cross paths with the scientist. Each will have different objects in their inventories. For instance, the scientist will have a mobile phone in his pocket, whereas the wizard will have a series of gadgets with powers to help him carry out different tasks. Patchwork's gameplay is similar to other traditional graphic adventures: you control the characters with the mouse, being able to observe and pick up objects or talk with other characters. Despite having a lovely storyline, Patchwork truly stands out for its graphics. The design and the animations are so flawless that most of the time you won't be able to tell it apart from an animated movie. Even though it's quite short, Patchwork is still a high-quality graphic adventure, which is surprising when you consider that it was developed by just one person.

Mayhem Triple

Mayhem Triple is a spectacular action and platform game in which players take the role of a nameless hero who has to face the invading hordes of killer bunnies from the future, who have come to our time to... well... destroy the world for some strange reason. However, the best thing about Mayhem Triple isn't its crazy story, but rather its excellent gameplay. As you control the hero of the day you will have to beat a series of two-dimensional scenes where you will come face to face with tons of enemies and overcome ridiculous jumps and obstacles. You can use your mouse to control your character's sights and aim wherever you want, while you use the arrow keys to move the character himself. You will find a considerable arsenal of weapons to defend yourself, including pistols, machine guns, and shotguns, which you can shoot while you are running or, Max Payne-style, you can jump into the air and shoot as you fall. In addition, the protagonist can run up the different walls in the scenes Parkour-style, which gives the game a very fun platform touch. Mayhem Triple is an outstanding game which, though it is completely free, could definitely sell for a lot of money. It might not have the best graphics out there, but this game is definitely better than a lot of others that people want to charge you for.

Six Shots of Whiskey is an odd video game where you simply have to create two characters, give them names, and then watch them fight. You're never actually part of the fight or control it in any way, and in the end, who wins depends on each character's stats and abilities, which are in fact just a result of the names you chose for them. This means the game uses an algorithm that, depending on the names you use, gives the characters different abilities. Some are as absurd as spitting or swearing, but some of the others include using dynamite. Six Shots of Whiskey is a very odd experimental game. Its graphics composed entirely of embroidery are without any doubt its main appeal.

SUPERHOTline Miami is an action game with a bird's eye perspective that combines the gameplay of two independently brilliant games: SUPERHOT and Hotline Miami. And considering that in both your objective is to shoot at everything that moves, the combo is an excellent one. The gameplay in SUPERHOTline Miami uses SUPERHOT's basic gameplay (time goes super slowly when you stop), adapted to the overhead perspective of Hotline Miami. You have to kill all the enemies in each level using your fists, handguns, and shotguns, without them managing to shoot you. The controls are really simple: the AWSD keys are used to move your character around, left-click to shoot, and right-click to pick up a weapon. Keep in mind that each weapon has a limited amount of ammunition and a set rate of fire. SUPERHOTline Miami is a direct and fun action game. The graphics are quite rough, but the experience is brilliant. The only problem is that it's super short.

Ananias Roguelike is a game that combines traditional elements of the genre, with a much more modern interface that lets you move your character, attack, and pick up objects with just a click. The goal in Ananias Roguelike is to descend the 25 levels that make up the main dungeon, so you can find the ring of Ananias, and transform your hero into a god. On the way you have to face more than 30 different types of monsters, that range from simple rats and skeletons, to deform creatures covered in spikes. In the beginning of the game you can choose your characters from various classes, although only the warrior and the arcane are unlocked at first. Each one has its own abilities, as usual. Besides, you can choose a pet to carry with you (wildcat, wolf, pony, etc.). This second choice is important, because you can evolve your pet in the future. Ananias Roguelike is very well adapted to be controlled with the mouse. It has all the ingredients that those who love the genre like: variety, difficulty, and great graphics.

The Well

The Well is a minimalist interactive experience in which you control an old Chinese traveler who can only jump and move forward and backward. He can also get on a boat to keep moving. What really makes The Well stand out, since its playability and story are practically nonexistent, is the game's charming visual design. Only black and white are used throughout the game, but they manage to construct a landscape within a universe through which you can move freely. As you go on your 'adventure', you'll be able to read texts (in Chinese), although the music is even more important. It is played using an old Chinese instrument that has been around for over five thousand years. The Well is a minimalistic, introspective interactive experience. Instead of providing nonstop action-based gameplay, it proposes an emotional experience to any player who will accept it.

Cocotrap is a version of classic game Pac-Man, now in 3D! This time, the protagonist is a cube, although the ghosts have their same retro design. The gameplay hasn't changed from classic Pac-Man: the main character runs across the screen, collecting yellow circles and fruit while avoiding the ghosts chasing him... except when he eats a red ball! In that case, the tables are turned and the ghost are running away from Pac-Man, who temporary has the ability to eat them. Eat all the dots to win points and beat the level. CocoTrap adds a modern twist on the retro, pixelated design of Pac-Man, bringing a more current look to this classic game.

Nitto 1320 is a fun racing simulator where you can play online against thousands of players from around the world. To play, you just have to be signed into the program's website. From there, your skill and ability behind the wheel will do the rest. The game mechanics are simple. The races progress in a straight line and the car that goes fastest wins, as long as it crosses the finish line within the preset time. Obviously your aim is to win all the races you can and get money that you can use to upgrade your vehicle. In Nitto 1320 you can modify your car in lots of ways, adding aesthetic details, tuning, and changes to the engine and adjustments to achieve better performance during races. Also, you can buy new cars and get rid of the older ones in exchange for money. With Nitto 1320 you can move up as high as you want in the racing world.

Verba is a simple educational game that allows you to expand your vocabulary as long as you have Microsoft Word installed, as it uses Word's spell-check system to decide whether you wrote a word correctly or not. The gameplay is very straightforward: letters will slowly appear on the screen as you try to use them to make the longest possible words. The only problem is if, as I mentioned in the first paragraph, you don't have MS Word installed on your computer. Without Word's spell-checker, Verba will accept all words as valid and take all of the fun out of the game. Verba is an interesting game which will help both kids and grown-ups learn new words.

Intelligence games are now trendy and we have played this really good one called 100 levels to cube it that puts your brain to the test. In the game we find 81 cases of 9 different colors. They are disordered and your goal is to order them and make an image equal to the one you can see in the lower right side of the interface. In order to do that, you'll have to move columns and files clicking the side part of the cube. The game is the perfect mix of Sudoku and Rubik's cube. Two great concepts in only one game. First levels are easy, but they are there just to learn how to play. The real challenge is in levels from 20 to 100. As long as you complete levels you'll find a more difficult challenge, a total disorder you'll have to reorder. Rack your brains to complete all levels and put yourself to the test. 100 levels to cube it is one of those games that can keep you a big time opposite the computer trying to solve the cube. Remeber how addictive is the Rubik's Cube and you'll make an idea of how addictive is 100 levels to cube it.

Dead Wheels

Dead Wheels is a genuinely unique racing game for many reasons. The first, and possibly most striking, is that, well, the only vehicle you have at your disposal is a shopping cart which is driven by a see through man. The second reason that the game stands out is that the main goal, quite simply, is to survive and reach the finish line. To do so you have to guide the cart down a huge downhill course avoiding passing cars, which can make things very difficult. If any of these cars crash into your cart, it is more than likely that you will end up flying through the air as a makeshift 'pilot'. Moreover, if you turn too sharply your driver will fly off spinning through the air, so you really do have to be very careful. Dead Wheels is a really fun game that, despite not having much depth, provides moments of real hilarity thanks to some truly spectacular crashes.

La Rolloux

La Rolloux is an arcade platformer where you move in a straight line on a track that is full of obstacles that you have to dodge in three different ways: jumping over them, sliding on the ground, or shooting at them. The unique and surprising thing about La Rolloux is the control system. You only have to use the mouse to carry out all the different actions. The character moves in a straight line automatically, and depending on the gesture you make with the mouse, he'll perform one action or another. If you move the mouse upwards he jumps, if you move it downwards he slides on the ground, and if you move it to the right he shoots. This way you can avoid the three types of obstacles that you can find: low fences, high fences, and glass doors. La Rolloux is a fun game that has several elements that make it unique. On one hand, the controls are a novelty, on the other, both the graphics and soundtrack are excellent.

Generic Platformer is a platformer that, despite what its name suggests, isn't very generic. In fact, you'll be given a laser gun, which you can use to destroy the levels however you wish. The objective of every level is to get to the flag at the end. But, of course, this won't be easy since your laser gun could destroy it, making it impossible to finish the level. As you play, you'll also have to collect coins and different treasures, which can obviously be destroyed as well. In fact, destroying certain items on the map will sometimes be absolutely necessary to be able to finish the level. In terms of graphics, Generic Platformer is nothing amazing, but it does have some appeal. Plus, seeing the way the laser gun destroys different surfaces is really fun to watch. Generic Platformer is a very fun platformer that (thanks to the laser gun) adds a unique component to the genre's traditional gameplay.

Dungeonmans is a roguelike in which you can create your own hero - warrior, mage, thief, cleric, etc - to explore an enormous world full of cities, dungeons, characters, and, above all, tons of enemies to fight. You can build your own bastion within the world of Dungeonmans, turning it into an operations base from which to manage other characters. Of course, the main point of the game is to explore the world that surrounds you, full of dungeons, treasure, and danger. Like any 'sandbox' game, Dungeonmans allows you to go wherever you want. That means that you can go slow and only enter dungeons with enemies and treasure adjusted to your current level, or strike out and end up in a place that you probably shouldn't have entered. Dungeonmans has an important advantage over other titles of its genre: spectacular graphics. Like other roguelike games, it doesn't have animation, but its tileset is really well-done. Dungeonmans is an excellent roguelike that features not only polished visual design and gameplay but also a truly colossal world. There are dozens of hours worth of content for anyone who can survive long enough to experience it all.

Carny Death Peddlers

Carny Death Peddlers is a beat'em up where you play the owner of a theme park who, dressed like a clown, has to get rid of the demons from hell that have come to take over. The gameplay is simple: there's a button to block enemy attacks, another to dodge, another to attack, and another to push (strong attack). With these four buttons, you have to try to kill all the enemies you find. The enemies range from truly nightmarish creatures with pumpkin heads and knife arms, to more iconic creatures like devils and even Dracula himself. As you play, you can pick up different types of food to regain health as well as weapons like knives, bombs, and machine guns that can kill creatures faster. Carny Death Peddlers is a really fun action game that looks like a horror movie. It also has a pretty unique setting for a genre that's usually filled with thugs and little more.

Vecinity is a first person puzzle game, which its developers define as 'Portal made by an independent team'. The reality, of course, is not quite as good looking, but the game does offer an interesting experience nonetheless. The player assumes the role of Claire, a young woman who, with the help of a number of high-tech gadgets, must gain access to an abandoned science laboratory to retrieve the Control Cube, a mysterious artefact that allows you to bend reality itself. As you would expect, the lab is full of traps and puzzles that require our heroine use her 'Dynamic Force Manipulator', an artefact with which she can manipulate objects from a distance. In practice, this device works in very similar way to the legendary gravity gun from Half-Life 2. With these tools in hand and with a series of rooms full of puzzles lying ahead, the player's objective is to get in, collect the cube, and get out, without the poor Claire being left stuck in the complex forever. And as you will quickly find out, this will be no easy task. Vecinity is an entertaining first-person puzzle and platform game, which while sharing some similarities with Portal, unsurprisingly fails to reach that game’s dizzying heights. That said, it's still well worth the effort, and will probably last no more than an hour and a half to any fan of the genre.

Zombie Portals is a two-dimensional arcade game where you need to survive attacks from endless waves of all kinds of zombies - in space. Of course, because you're in space, you'll be able to change the area's gravity whenever you want, which lets you go from floor to ceiling or from ceiling to floor in a split second. You'll run into over a dozen different kinds of zombies throughout the game, and the one thing they have in common is that they all want a taste of your brain. Some are easy to kill, while others mount more of a challenge, and may even go so far as to set traps for you to fall into. Luckily, you have the chance to collect a good arsenal of weapons to take down the zombies. The weapons will appear floating around in space, so you'll need to execute some fancy moves to reach them - but it's definitely worth the effort to get your hands on machine guns, shotguns, pistols, and more. Zombie Portals is an action game that, despite having simple controls, offers up a serious challenge thanks to some difficult levels in the game. Not only that, but it has fun graphics and an appearance by Robocop.

All the moves are made using the mouse and you have a supply of objects to achieve your goal which is to talk and resolve puzzles. The best part of the game, which is very short, is its story. With a lot of humor it tells how Janet must make a cake and enter it into her city’s baking contest, so that she may rest in peace. Chance of the Dead is an exciting adventure that is short and free. You should play it and enjoy for a while.

The Witch's House is a horror game in which the player takes on the role of little Viola, a girl that gets lost in the woods and ends up in a mysterious house in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately for her, the house ends up being a diabolical place, home to a witch... who needs a new body: hers. During our adventure in the mysterious house we get to explore its every corner, picking up clues and talking to some very interesting characters, all in our attempt to escape. It won't be easy. The house seems to have a life of its own... and the witch, Ellen, is not willing to let Viola escape so easily, as we will soon find out. The Witch's House is a pretty harsh horror game. Not so much for the blood, which there is plenty of, but for the story itself, which can, depending on how it carries out, lead us to witness a completely crushing ending. So we best watch our actions carefully if we don’t want to end up destroyed. The Witch's House is a very good independent adventure game, and a great example of what can be done using RPG Maker VX. This is, without a doubt, a very special game.

Protocol is an action and speed arcade game where players control a fugitive who is escaping by motorcycle, while tons of security androids try to knock him off the road. Players can control the direction of the motorcycle with the arrow keys, while they can use the mouse to point and shoot their laser gun. However, the laser gun can only be shot in a straight line, so you'll have to be parallel to the androids to finish them off. Of course, things will be easier at the beginning, where you only have to face small androids. But you will soon have to confront rival motorcycles and larger robots. Luckily, you can also improve your weapons, moving from the first laser gun to much more devastating machines. Protocol is an entertaining game whose strong point is its spectacular graphics, whose every pixel reminds you of cyberpunk. It's not for nothing this game was shown at Gamejolt's Cyberpunk Jam.

Ultima Ratio Regum is a very special roguelike where the main focus is not combat or traps, as with the majority of other games in this genre. Instead, you'll be tasked with finding evidence scattered around the world in order to uncover an intellectual conspiracy to rewrite the history of mankind, from religion and customs to types of government and more. When you start a new game, Ultima Ratio Regum begins by generating a whole universe. Basically, the game generates an entire galaxy, planets and all. Then you choose the planet where you want to play. You can indicate certain preferences for your planet, such as the preferred type of government, culture, religious beliefs, and legal system. Or, if you prefer, you can randomize it. Once you've created the world, you can start playing. In the beginning, as in most roguelikes, the game might be a little confusing. Luckily, Ultima Ratio Regum includes a sort of built-in tutorial that explains all the controls available to you in each moment. No matter what, from the beginning, you can move around the world freely and begin your investigation. Ultima Ratio Regum is a totally unique roguelike with an ambitious premise. Visually speaking, this game has a certain charm that goes far beyond its ASCII style, such as its procedurally-generated ANSI illustrations. And that's what's at the core of this game: everything is procedurally-generated, so no game is alike, and you'll never get bored.

Effing Dead – The Broken Path

Effing Dead – The Broken Path is a third-person horror and action game that according to its own developers was directly inspired by Resident Evil 4, even though it's actually much more similar to the more recent Dead Space. You control the last surviving defense clone on a spaceship sent to a distant planet to find new water sources. Before long you discover that something terrible has happened on the ship when you come across crew members who've turned into lobotomized creatures determined to destroy you. Fortunately, the clone protagonist has a service pistol and, more importantly, a powerful V-blade, a knife that can be used to finish off stunned enemies in hand-to-hand combat. As you advance through the spacecraft you have to solve small puzzles in addition to facing tons of enemies. Fortunately, in order to finish off all the enemies, you'll find many more weapons such as shotguns and grenades along the way. The combat style in Effing Dead – The Broken Path is very well developed. You can destroy your enemies’ heads to kill them off quickly, or aim at their limbs to slow them down and then finish them off with melee attacks. Effing Dead – The Broken Path is a fun third-person action game with amazing graphics and a very interesting plot. In short, a free game that borders on truly outstanding.

Maddening Relapse 2

Maddening Relapse 2 is the sequel of the fun 2D endless runner titled, Remaddening (also available for download on Uptodown). Once again, here you have an infinite game full of obstacles that are generated randomly as you play. This time, the game comes with four different modes. Each mode generates scenarios with different obstacles depending on how you advance. In standard mode, you can play the basic game, whereas in pogo mode, for example, your character is constantly jumping. The controls in Maddening Relapse 2 are simple: with the directional buttons, you can run faster or slower, while you use the spacebar to jump. If you have an Xbox 360 controller (or something similar), you can use that to play the game instead. Maddening Relapse 2 is an original and fun endless runner, that also has spectacular graphics and a catchy soundtrack. It's a great option for playing short rounds (sometimes very, very short) whenever you want.

Pioneerz is a pure 16-bit style RPG where you step into the shoes of a pioneer in a new fantasy world. In it you'll enjoy a 'sandbox' experience where your main goal, instead of following a particular storyline, is to protect the city. Thus, one of your most important goals will be to gather resources to make your town grow and become self-sufficient. However, it won't be easy, as you'll run into lots of enemies who will try to make things hard for you. And as if that weren't enough, you'll have to constantly watch out for their attacks. You'll be able to see the world evolve as you move forward: plants and trees growing, animals reproducing and, of course, your town getting bigger with time – if you manage to keep it safe from your enemies' attacks, that is. Pioneerz is a unique and entertaining RPG that will let you enjoy a slightly different experience from other JRPGs in delightful SNES-style graphics.
