Edmund is an interactive story in 2D in which you control Edmund, a mysterious character who, after getting in a cab and stopping near a bus stop, assaults an unknown woman. This game tries to go deep in the mind of a serial rapist, going all the way back to the Vietnam War. You can play during the war, too, and find out what exactly happened there. Because of the theme, the gaming experience is naturally pretty heavy and might be offensive to some people, so it's not recommended for everyone. Besides the theme, Edmund has a simple 2D gameplay. You can jump (which is necessary) and shoot a gun (which is only occasionally necessary). Edmund is a strange adventure. Beneath the gloomy graphics, there's a strong adult story that is rarely explored in the world of video games. It's a unique experience for sure.

The Warrior's Tale is a role-playing game inspired by The Bard's Tale, a game of the same genre that made huge waves in 1985. To start playing you'll need to create a group of characters that will accompany you throughout the story. Choose among humans, elves, gnomes, wizards... up to six different types of characters and seven different races. Each one has its own characteristics, spells, and songs. Bring together your travel companions and start the adventure. Your aim is to save the city of Hachen Dael; to do so you must destroy the demon Moloch, the source of all evil. Along the way you'll meet all kinds of characters to fight, find items to pick up, and arrive in places to investigate. To see the Help menu, press F1; to change from full screen to window and vice versa, F4; to exit, F7.

Extrication is a point-and-click graphic adventure where you play a swindler in the thick of a sticky situation. He owes money to Fat Tony, a local mobster famous for never letting a debt slide, and has less than 24 hours to get the money together and hand it over. You play Extrication just like most other graphic adventure games: using the mouse, you can investigate anything you come across in the level, move objects around, speak to people, and try to use anything you have in your possession to your advantage. The adventure is relatively short but it has a lot of different characters you can interact with, as well as three different possible endings. Of course, one of the possibilities includes 'sleeping with the fishes', which is what will happen if you can't come up with the money to pay Tony. Extrication is a graphic adventure with a great retro feel, an interesting storyline, and some very enticing characters. Definitely a high-quality free game.

Killing zombies is funny and good for stressed people and youths. Dead Meets Lead is an action game in third person in which our goal is to finish up hordes of zombies. Take up one of those weapons available and start smashing them as soon as possible. You can use swords, giant hammers, guns or an amazing harquebus. In this demo version you can enjoy the tropical level where you have to eliminate hordes of zombies while taking care of the area you move because you can die due to malaria or insects - a curious way to limit the map in the demo. Dead Meets Lead doesn't feature amazing graphics, but it's funny enough to keep you killing zombies for a long time.

CountryCide is a first-person action-horror game that also serves as a prequel to Trench Foot, another game by the same developers. Your objective in this brief but intense horror adventure set in the outskirts of a city is to discover a group of cultists who, apparently, are worshipping and trying to summon an unholy creature, capable of bringing doom to Earth. CountryCide is a mod for Doom II and, as such, is very easy to run. All you have to do is unzip the compressed file, which is in .pk3 format, in any folder. After that, you just have to drag this file to the GZDoom executable (the Doom mod manager par excellence). And that's it. The only thing you should keep in mind is that, as always, you will need to have the original Doom II or Ultimate Doom files on your PC for the game to work correctly. The story of CountryCide places you in the shoes of a Templar who goes to investigate a farm on the outskirts of a city. From the very beginning, you will notice that something is not right. However, instead of challenging you with monsters and enemies from the first minute, the game manages to slowly build an oppressive atmosphere that will slowly make your hair stand on end. You will have to go through gloomy forests, neglected mansions and infected sewers. And you will always, always need all five senses focused on the game. One of the strengths of CountryCide is how it manages to deftly switch between quiet moments of tension and outbursts of action filled with gunfire and screaming. When the action does come, it comes in full force. The enemies in CountryCide are relentless and, if you take your eye off the ball for even a second, they will grab you and finish you off before you can even pull the trigger. This level of difficulty helps considerably to raise the overall tension of a game that, in itself, manages to keep you on the edge of your seat. Download CountryCide and enjoy an excellent first-person horror game that will take you approximately one hour. Best of all, while the game is good in itself, it's really just the prequel to a much bigger title: Trench Foot, in which you'll discover much more information about the whole background of this terrifying adventure.

Inkling is a 2D platformer where you control two characters simultaneously – one is a boy made of shadows, and the other is a young ghost who's willing to help him on his adventure. You control the boy with the keyboard while using the mouse for the ghost's special power, which lets you create a sort of trampoline for the boy to jump in any direction. You need to have good coordination to use the ghost's special skill while simultaneously moving the young man. Once you get the hang of it, you can create platforms in midair to keep jumping along. As you advance in Inkling's story, in addition to passing the levels, you also need to rescue other boys that are locked up. To do so, you just need to get to where they are. Inkling is a 2D platformer with an entertaining gameplay and noteworthy graphics. Plus, the game has a dark yet charming ambiance that fits perfectly with the story.

Grimgala is an action game in which you have to get through different enemy-infested dungeons while trying to find all the treasure hidden within. You'll start with just a basic pistol to defend yourself, but later on you'll be able to find new, more devastating weapons. Gameplay recalls The Binding of Isaac. You move your character with the WASD keys, and shoot with the directional arrows. That means that you don't have to use your mouse - just the keyboard - to move and shoot with your character. One major strong point in Grimgala is its graphic design, which is very dark and dismal, with truly creepy pixelated enemies like spiders. As you advance through the game, you'll be able to collect runes with which to improve your attacks. The only bad thing about this system is that although it's nice to progress, eventually you actually end up having too much power. Grimgala is a fun action game with a unique visual style that offers entertaining gameplay.

Mad Father is a very special adventure, where you control a little girl who, after a few accidents in his mansion, realizes that something is wrong with her father. It wouldn't be good to explain too much about the game's storyline, because a lot of the game's interest comes from untangling the mysterious horrors that lie in wait in the mansion. All these horrors are seen from the point of view of a little girl, the daughter of the mad scientist... and he is very violent. The game mechanics are pretty simple. You just explore the mansion, talking to various characters you meet along the way, picking up and using items when necessary, and unraveling the mystery surrounding your father. Mad Father is a horror game. By its compelling environment and storyline, this game will keep you glued to the screen through the length of the adventure.

But there are problems everywhere: outside, an enemy army is approaching the castle gates, and inside some of the nobles are not particularly happy with the heir to the throne. As if this weren't enough, hidden at the border of Theylinn is the mysterious realm Thierna na Oge, a place where fairies live and where, thanks to fate, you will end up, too. A Tale of Two Kingdoms is a relatively open game that also includes several side quests. You will see one of five endings depending on the choices you make. A Tale of Two Kingdoms is a typical graphic adventure with both a traditional gameplay and traditional graphics. The best part is that there are enough in-game decisions that you can play it more than once.

Sonic After the Sequel is an unofficial sequel in the blue hedgehog's franchise that takes place somewhere between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3. The game comes with the saga's traditional gameplay, but adds a few more interesting elements. When you start the game, you’ll see that you can choose, from the start, between Sonic and his partner, Tails. Plus, you can activate or deactivate the story scenes that appear between levels and give an added background to the classic 2D platform game. Once you are running and jumping through any of Sonic After the Sequel's levels, you'll realize that, in spite of not being official, this is one excellent Sonic game. The game comes with all the quality if the first games in the franchise, and adds new elements, such as skills or levels to surprise even the veterans. Sonic After the Sequel is a great 2D platform game that is up there with all the well-known commercial games. Even the graphics are spectacular at times thanks to an excellent use of colors.

Gaming World's War is an arcade game where you control a character, situated on the left side of the screen, that has to use various types of weapons to stop the enemies entering from the right side from crossing the screen. The game's story takes place at the end of the video game world, which means that you'll meet up with some famous characters during your adventure. In the first level, for example, after you finish off multiple waves of enemies, you come face to face with Heihachi Mishima, one of the most charismatic characters in the Tekken series. At the end of each level, you can use the money that you've made killing enemies to update your equipment and buy new weapons. You have access to three in total: a pistol, a rifle, and a machine gun, each with their own attributes. Gaming World's War is a fun shooting game that, despite having clunky animation, boasts fun and direct gameplay. You're sure to enjoy meeting up with well-known video game characters like Ryu and Megaman.

Cave Story is an excellent platform game where we control a character called Quote, an small robot girl who will have to survive to lots of dangers. In our way, we'll find dozens of levels full of platforms, puzzles, jump and enemies. Although, luckily, we'll also find friendly characters who will help us. Playability and graphics of the game a re very similar to the ones we can find when playing any Super Nintendo classic, what means we'll enjoy a super 2D adventure with a simple control system and a graphic field deliciously pixelated. Cave Story is one of the classics in videogame history who any gamer should play.

Ultratron is a simple third-person action game where you play a tiny robot whose sole aim is to destroy all the other robots. The controls are really simple: just use the WASD keys to move around the screen, and the mouse to aim and shoot. The enemy robots are pretty fast, though, so you better have good aim. The graphics are good and feature a futuristic style with really charming designs for the robots (especially the tiny ones). That and a catchy soundtrack make the game a total joy to play. Ultratron is a fun game. The gameplay is incredibly simple, so anyone can enjoy it regardless of their experience.

Dead of Knight is a 3D action game where the players control a knight that, after being murdered, comes back to life in the dungeons of a castle looking for revenge. You will have to play through different levels filled with enemies (mainly skeletons, zombies and other 'undead') and finishing them all off. Luckily you will have a good range of attacks to defend yourself, although using them has a very high price. The interesting turn in the gameplay of Dead of Knight is that your life bar and energy bar are the same. And to use any attack that is not basic, you will need to use this energy. So you'll have to be very careful when using special attacks. Luckily, one of the attacks of the game allows you to grab any enemy and drain his vital energy to replenish yours. Dead of Knight is an independent and free action game that has an excellent visual part (with support for resolutions up to 1920x1080), it's made to play with an Xbox 360 controller and it offers a few hours of good fun.

Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor is a traditional graphic adventure that has clearly been inspired by classic games from Sierra and Lucas Arts. Playing the game is very simple: you can talk to tons of different characters, collect objects, explore the scenery, and, of course, solve different puzzles. Everything combines to advance the plot. One thing that really makes Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor stand out is its graphic design. All of the images in the game were painted by hand, with very attractive, polished results. Donald Dowell and the Ghost of Barker Manor is a traditionally-styled point and click graphic adventure with entertaining characters and story.

AdvanceMAME is a fork of the well-known arcade emulator MAME. As its name suggests, this version contains a few more features than the original, such as the capability to run games in their native resolution so they can be used with CRT monitors, and to emulate consoles and PCs as well as arcade games. AdvancedMAME combines several independent software modules. Just like the original MAME, the core of the app doesn't include a default graphic interface. That being said, it does have an AdvanceMENU tool that shows your ROM's thumbnails and can launch them. This menu can be adapted to CRT monitor resolutions, which makes it a great option if you're looking for software that doesn't use tons of processing power to connect a low-performance PC to an arcade monitor. Not only that, but Advance MAME is based on MAME version 0.106, which means it's compatible with all its romsets and anything else compatible with that version of MAME. All of that means Advance MAME can emulate the vast majority of arcade games, all the way to games released in the 90s.

Beneath a Steel Sky is one of the best graphic adventures of its time. It came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, and now you can play it for free since its source code was released. It uses an old-revolutionary technology called the Virtual Theatre System, giving the game spectacular graphics and sound. Robert Foster, the game protagonist, has been kidnapped by security soldiers. The helicopter transporting him stalls out and allows him to flee from his captors. He hides in one of the buildings of the city, and that's where the action starts. Little by little he'll figure out the reasons for his capture, and uncover the story's many secrets. This classic graphic adventure makes use of the ScummVM emulator, and is even translated into other languages. Pressing the F5 key will save and/or reload your game whenever you want. You can also use this key to quit out of the game.

Super Fighter is a two-dimensional fighting game that uses similar technology to that of games made in the 90s to offer an authentic experience both in terms of graphics as well as gameplay. You can select your player from a roster of more than 10 characters, each with their own normal, special, and super attacks. There are strong but slow characters like the Russian Sarkov, and fast but weak characters like the mysterious Bullet; but in general each fighter has their own strong and weak points. One thing that separates Super Fighter from other titles in the genre is that it only has two attack buttons. One is for kicking and the other is for punching, while a combination of both will of course enable you to perform combos and special attacks. This is the 20th anniversary version of Super Fighter. Not only does it include animations that are more fluid than the original, but it also has an improved soundtrack and additional attacks. Super Fighter is a traditional two-dimensional fighting game. Despite its old-fashioned graphics, it's pure fun for one or two players.

1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg

1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg is a curious horror adventure in which you take on the role of a German soldier during the First World War who must escape the horrors he finds in the trenches... a feat which will not be easy. Gameplay is in the first person, just like on a first person shooter game, but instead of having to face the different dangers you encounter head on, your objective is actually to avoid them at all costs, as your hero is quite damaged emotionally and all he can really do is run. The adventure is quite short and will barely last a few moments, but that is more than enough time to fully convey the fear and horrors of war. Plus, the black and white graphics come with an ageing filter that makes the setting feel perfect. 1916 - Der Unbekannte Krieg is a great first person horror game in a great setting and with a somewhat simple gameplay that still manages to keep you constantly on the edge.

Discoverie

Discoverie is a first-person action game where the player controls a character who, armed with a crossbow, has to try to get out of a dungeon filled with strange creatures. The players will only have one weapon, the crossbow, but it has infinite arrows so you'll never have to worry about picking up ammunition or reloading. In its place, you go around shooting like crazy at practically everything that moves – although there are some creatures who are not hostile, of course. To get out of the dungeon where you're locked in you'll need a series of keys to open the corresponding doors. You'll find these keys behind paintings and other types of objects that you'll also have to shoot. Your hero starts the game with six lives and each time a creature hits you you lose one. If your life gets to zero... you have to start from the beginning, losing all the keys you obtained up to that point. Discoverie is a first-person action game with touches of 'roguelike' whose main strong point is its spectacular graphics. The lighting effects especially shine in a dark but very colorful voxel world.

Momodora is an adventure and platform game where you have to venture inside a mysterious temple, controlling young Isadora. Her goal is to recover a legendary artifact capable of bringing her mother back to life. In order to get to the end of the temple and find the artifact (and, perhaps, another surprise or two) your character will have to pass tons of scenes that are full of all types of dangers: jumps, traps, enemies... luckily, she has a number of weapons that she can use during her adventure. The game will constantly remind you of the classic free game Cave Story, which is of the same genre. This is true not just in terms of the graphics (although they are so similar they could be siblings) but also in terms of the gameplay, because even though this game has less exploration and fewer adventures than Cave Story, the combat and the platforms are almost identical. Momodora is a very fun adventure and platform game, which you have to play if you want to understand the story of Momodoro 2, which offers a similar but much more extensive story.

Myth War II is a free-to-play multiplayer RPG where you dive into a fantasy world dominated by four main races. To play you have to choose one for your character in the beginning. There are centaurs, who are powerful archers among other things; humans, who are particularly good thieves and paladins; mages, who are a mix of human and centaur; and Borgs, half-human and half-robot creatures created by the first beings. Once you create your character, the best thing you can do is look for friends to set out on the adventure with you. You can play on your own if you want, but to make your character stronger what you really need to do is complete missions, which are designed ideally to play in groups. As you level up, you can also improve your skills and get new items to customize your character and even improve your pet, who is likely to save your life in combat more than once. Myth War II is a really entertaining game with colorful graphics and a retro 2D style that works perfectly on any computer you might use.

Double Dragon Fists of Rage is a traditional 'beat 'em up' game where you will control brothers Billy and Jimmy on a street adventure to rescue the beautiful Marian, who has been kidnapped by a gang of troublemakers. Fists of Rage, like the original Double Dragon, was designed to be played with two players in cooperative mode, although it also includes a one-player mode. Still, like most games, playing alone just isn't as fun. You'll be able to use tons of different attacks: punches, kicks, grabs, hits with objects, special fury attacks... thanks to such a wide variety of moves, you'll be able to stand up against the many enemies that you'll face. Although fighting gangs will take up most of your time in the game, you'll also need to watch out for traps, which can really damage your health if you run into them. Double Dragon Fists of Rage is a really fun arcade game that holds onto the spirit of traditional games. Punches, kicks, gangs, and kidnappings - what more could you ask for?

Friends 'Til the End is a platformer born of the following idea: 'You play a boy whose remote control helicopter is alive and your friend, then you discover a nuclear missile inside it.' This absurd premise hides a game where you are constantly controlling a boy and his helicopter simultaneously. On the one hand, you'll have to walk and jump over holes in the ground with the boy while on the other you fly the helicopter, dodging all the buildings. This gameplay demands very skilled and consistent coordination from you, since if the boy gets too far away from his helicopter the intensity of the remote control signal will become weaker and it'll start to fall ... causing a nuclear explosion that will destroy the entire city and, obviously, kill the boy. Friends 'Til the End is a very entertaining and curious indie game that, even if it doesn't last long (it's very short), does let you experience something different.

This installer downloads its own emulator along with the game Granny (GameLoop), letting you play on Windows by adapting its control system to use the mouse and keyboard. You don't need any special knowledge, as the tool automatically installs everything you need to play. Granny (GameLoop) is a first-person horror game where the action will take you to a house full of traps. You will have five days to escape, but traps are not the only thing that awaits you there. Granny will also chase you and not exactly to hug you. Be careful when moving forward because if she hears you move or drop something on the ground, she will come after you at full speed. Escaping from here will not be easy. The house you will find yourself in will be full of objects to interact with. In Granny (GameLoop), you can open drawers and cabinets, take keys, deactivate traps and hide. Sometimes, hiding will be the only thing that will save you from the beating Granny will give you if she finds you. When you cannot escape, Granny will knock you unconscious, you will wake up in the bed at the beginning of the game, and a day will have passed. As a horror game, Granny (GameLoop) is an interesting experience, as it manages to create a sense of constant tension. If you like to be scared, don't hesitate and play now.
